Fifth Grade Students: June! We will be writing about our NetGap Project and our Badger Class trip. Parts of your essays will be added to the web as well as photographs. Also, work to complete your final HyperStudio. This can be anything you want it to be. Some students are making it into a type of electronic fifth grade year book using photographs from the year. It's yours. You do it your way. (ok, you can use clip art this time)

May 14-28 we will be working on improving sentences by adding unique adverbs and adjectives. We will work on placing prepostional phrases in our sentences. We will display our favorite article in the art fair. We will be taking digital photographs of Peacemaker Activities and making a book of our thoughts. (you were the first class to start Peacemakers) We will be starting on the CD Adam, the Inside Edition as we end our study of the body systems. Check these body sites on the Internet:

http://www.innerbody.com/htm/body.html A phenomenal site on human anatomy, exploring the body by systems, and using computer drawn graphics. There is very detailed work here. For instance, in cardiovascular systems, we are able to look at and explore a coronary bypass, a bronchial alveolus, artery & vein tissue, etc. Animations are also available, each with side text. Watch an animated overview of eating & swallowing, or nerve/muscle connection. While the context can become quite complex, there is also much for the younger set as well.

The Heart: An Online Exploration http://sin2.fi.edu/biosci/heart.html Take a tour through this amazing exhibit of the heart, inspired by the Franklin Institute's walk-through exhibit. An interactive menu is available for activities; find out about blood-types; listen to heart sounds; etc. You can watch a Quicktime movie of open-heart surgery, or look at various animated clips. Teacher resource materials are offered.

Each person is expected to write on one these topics: Spelling Bee, Leah's visit, Highway Clean-up, or topic of your choice.

April 26-30 We will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills during the morning. Be sure you have finished your paragraph on Book Bowl Trip or Operation Clean Sweep.

April 12-23 Write a paragraph about your Book Bowl Team. Use a photograph from the Internet for the page. In science we are observing and describing plants in our area. We are discussing the Rain forest and traveling the Amazon Trail. Write about your experiences. Choose a photograph of your group from GlobalShared for the bottom of your page. Use a portion of your computer time to practice keyboarding. You should reach 15 words per minute by June.

March 22-April 2 Many of you need to perfect your HyperStudio reports. All three HS stacks should be in good shape, especially your book report. I need to sit with you while you go over the content. We will be printing them in color so you will have a hard copy to keep. Author's Night is March 30.

Also, you have your "Spirit of the Woods Thank You Letter" to complete. Do use a photograph or drawing of an animal at the bottom. And don't forget to keep up with your keyboarding practice.

March 8-19 We need to write paragraphs for the DARE page , Pecos Bill and the BEAD page.
