One day in reading class we got to make beady buddies. They were all snakes. I got a white one with blue eyes. At the end of mine I got green beads. They are about 6 inches long. At first I thought it would be hard but I found that it is easy. Plus it's fun to do. You can put them on your backpack or whatever. I put mine on my notebook. She got the idea from John Jay Sam (our guest speaker). That was our bead project. ... Brenen

Bead Fun

We have been seeing visitors so much. If you remember we had Mr. John Jay Sam and how he had a bead head band. Well our reading teacher, Mrs. Lyman, wanted to do something like that. So she said that it would be fun to make Bead Buddies. So she got the materials that we would need and we made them. It was fun. Some people had problems at first. Then after a while they got a hang of it. ... Amber J

Making Bead Snakes

When Jay Sam came to our school he talked about stuff and showed us many of the things that he had done during his childhood. Some of those things were elk skin, beaded head bans, a bag to replace his pockets, a feather, and a talking stick. The one that I thought looked the best was his beaded head ban. Now we tried to make something that looked similar so we made what we call beady buddies. They weren't head bans or some other fancy thing that Jay Sam did but I thought it was really fun. Thanks for giving us the idea to make those beady buddies. Erin Wagoner

Our Class Bead Project

In reading we did a bead project. We did it because we had an Indian come into our class and tell us about Indian culture. He had made bead work with elk skin, head bands. So in reading, Mrs. Lyman brought in some beads and string and we all made snake beady buddies. It was really fun because we got to keep the beady buddies. Ours looked like the ones that the Indian showed us but we used bigger beads and his was on a headband. My beady buddy gave me good luck. ...Chris P

Bead Making

It was really fun making these because since the Indian came in. We have been talking about him a lot. Ms Lyman came in with a bag of beads. She said we could make a snake. It was hard at first, but I got use to it. I usually keep it on my belt but today I forget it. I try not to forget because I like it. Now I wanted to do it every day. I told my dad to buy some beads. It was fun can't you tell?.... Mathew S
