The Onekama Portagers vs. MCC Sabres

     The Onekama junior varsity lost a heartbreaker Friday night to rival Manistee Catholic Central by a score of 49-35.  The Portagers led the Sabres for the first three quarters, but too many turnovers in the fourth spelled doom for OHS.  The Portagers played brilliantly in the first period, converting 8-9 field goals, but their inability to break the MCC press in the final stanza resulted in easy baskets for the Sabres. 
      The Portagers were lead in rebounding by Chase Callaway (6), Skyler Kimple (6) and Joe Kosiboski (6).  Tom Koon paced the Portager offense with 14 points, followed by Kosiboski with 12.  Onekama (6-2, 5-2) travel to Custer on Monday to face Mason County Eastern.       ~Coach Balmer
