Dec. 7 Away | Bear Lake | Onekama Wins! The junior varsity improved to 2-0 on Friday night with a convincing 58-40 victory over the Bear Lake Lakers. Skyler Kimple lead the way with 14 rebounds while Joe Kosiboski grabbed 8 boards and chipped in 14 points. Thomas Koon added 16 points and Jake Matthews contributed 9. Despite a slow start offensively, the Portagers continued to play team defense and rebound to build a resounding lead which would not be relinquished. Jan. 14 Away | MCE | The junior varsity lost to conference foe Mason County Eastern 49-57 Monday evening. Joe Kosiboski scored 14 points to lead the Portagers, followed by Jake Matthews with 12. Kosiboski, along with Skyler Kimpel and Chase Callaway, grabbed 5 rebounds apiece in the losing effort. OHS (6-3, 5-3) hopes to stop the skid Thursday night when they take the long trip to Big Rapids to face Crossroads Charter. ~Coach Balmer |
Jan 17 Away | Big Rapids Crossroads | Onekama Wins! The junior varsity came away with a big win Thursday evening, defeating Big Rapids Crossroads 39-28. Chase Callaway and Joe Kosiboski each scored 10 points to lead the Portagers. Kevin O'Connor and Tommy Koon both chipped in with 8. Jan 28 Home | Walkerville | Onekama Wins! The junior varsity made quick work of Walkerville on Monday evening, defeating the Wildcats 66-20. The Portagers jumped out front early and never looked back. Kevin O'Connor was a force on the boards, collecting a game high 9 rebounds. Jan 31 Away | Baldwin | Onekama Wins! The OHS junior varsity had no difficulty getting past Baldwin, defeating the Panthers handily by a score of 66-10. Joe Kosiboski lead the Portager offense in scoring with 18, while Kevin O'Connor grabbed 9 boards. OHS next faces old Northwest Conference foe Frankfort. |

The Portager junior varsity
played perhaps its finest game of the season against Frankfort,
defeating the game Panthers 71-60. Skyler Kimpel had a monster
game, grabbing 9 rebounds to go along with 21 points. Joe Kosiboski
added 18 points. OHS travels south to face Pentwater on Friday.

Feb 8 Away | Pentwater | Onekama Wins! It didn't take long for Onekama to jump out to a commanding lead Friday night against Pentwater, and the Portagers didn't look back as they won their third consecutive game, defeating the Falcons 71-30. Chase Callaway played his best game of the season, grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring 15 points. Jared Miller came up huge off the bench, recording 9 boards and 11 points. Onekama Wins! The
junior varsity took care of business against Mesick, defeating the Bulldogs 44-25 to capture their fifth straight victory. Kevin O'Connor played his finest game of the season, recording 11 rebounds to go along with 14 points. Skyler Kimpel grabbed 11 boards, while Tom Koon scored 12 points. The Portager junior varsity ran out of gas
and fell in overtime to the Cardinals of Custer by a score of 33-42.
OHS made a late rally to tie the game and even had the final possession
of regulation, but a shot at the buzzer rimmed out to force overtime.
Kevin O'Connor and Skyler Kimpel had 11 rebounds. Tom Koon and O'Connor

Feb 16 | MCC | Playing their second game in as many nights, the j.v. boys could not muster the same intensity they displayed in a heartbreaking loss to Custer the night before. Manistee Catholic seized the opportunity to exploit the fatigued Portagers and cruised to 58-33 victory. Tom Koon scored 11 points to lead Onekama. OHS (13-6, 10-6) concludes their season Tuesday evening when they travel north to face Lake Leelanau St. Mary's. ~Coach Balmer |
Feb. 19 Away | Lake Leelanau St. Mary | Game Photos The Portager junior varsity capped off a successful season Tuesday evening, defeating Lake Leelanau St. Mary's 49-41. Skyler Kimpel had 11 rebounds and 16 points for Onekama, while Chase Callaway and Kevin O'Connor grabbed 10 and 9 boards, respectively. Jake Matthews played his finest game of the season, scoring a game-high 17 points. The Portagers finished the season with a 14-6 overall record, and 10-6 in league play. ~Coach Balmer |
