Jan/21 at Brethren 5:00 Onekama Wins! The eighth grade traveled to Brethren today and came home with a win, defeating Brethren 26 to  16. Leading the way in scoring was Jaylee "J-Bro" Brown with 12 points, followed closely by Jennica  "Ice Cubes" Mathieu with 10 points. Jan/23 at Bear Lake 5:00 Onekama Wins! Tonight's game against the Bear Lake Lakers started out with the Lakers taking an early lead but the Portagers came back hard and led 8 to 4 at the end of the first quarter and went on to win the game by a score of 30 to 12. Emily "Sweet M" Pomeroy led in scoring with 12 points with Jennica Mathieu and Jaylee Brown chipping in with 8 and 6 points respectively for a nicely balanced scoring attack. Lindsey Nesburg and Gabrielle  Bellinger added to the scoring with 2 points each. Madalyn  Harvey played stellar defense to help seal the victory.  ~Mark Ward, Reporter Game Photos
Jan/26 at Manistee Catholic 10:00 Onekama Wins! This morning's game against Manistee Catholic Central started out on a positive note with Danielle "Big D" Ward grabbing a rebound and putting it back in the hoop for an early Portager lead. MCC stayed with Onekama through the first half. Then in the second half, following a three point shot by Emily Pomeroy, the Portagers started to pull away and won the  game 28 to 12.  Jennica Mathieu led Onekama in scoring with 11 points followed by Jaylee Brown with 6. Lindsey Nesburg led the Portagers in rebounding with 4 while Brown had 3. Ward led the Portager defense with three steals. ~Mark Ward, Reporting Game Photos
Feb 1   Middle School Players Introduced at HS Game Feb. 1
Feb/06 at Brethren 5:00 Portagers Win! Once again the girls were on the road for a second game with the Brethren Bobcats. This time however the Brethren girls put up a tougher fight as this game went right down to the wire. Lindsay "Blondie" Nesburg started out the scoring for the Portagers to give them a lead they would manage to keep throughout the game, but just barely. At the half Onekama led 17 to 11 but Brethren came back to close the gap and the final score ended up 23 to 21 after a tough defensive second half. Jennica Mathieu led in scoring with ten points, Emily Pomeroy had eight, and Nesburg five to account for all of the Portager  points. Danielle Ward led in rebounding with nine boards and Mathieu had four. Jaylee Brown played great defense and had five steals to show for it. Madeline Harvey had a big second half blocked shot to stop a Brethren rally and help the Portagers hold on for the win. ~Mark Ward, Reporting
Feb/11 at Bear Lake 5:00 Onekama Wins! The Portagers played their best game of the season so far and defeated Bear Lake by a score of 38 to 16. Leading the balanced scoring attack was Jaylee Brown and Jennica Mathieu with 12 points each followed by Emily Pomeroy and Danielle Ward with 6 point apiece. Lindsey Nesburg chipped in two points. Pomeroy and Ward each had 4 rebounds while Mathieu. Nesburg and Madeline "Mulan" Harvey each had three. Ward led the team in steals with 5 and Brown was right behind her with 4. Mathieu, Nesburg and Gabrielle Bellinger each had two for a great team effort both offensively and defensively. ~Mark Ward, Reporting
Feb. 13 at Bear Lake 5:00 Still Undefeated! Mathieu led the Portagers in scoring with 11 points while Pomeroy pitched in with 6. Ward had 3 points and Nesburg 2 to give Onekama a 22 to 8 win over the Lakers and remain undefeated so far this season. Photos and more of Mark Ward's Report
Feb/ 21 Home vs. Brethren 5:00

Onekama Wins! In a hard fought defensive battle Emily Pomeroy led the way with ten points to lead the Portagers to a 18-14 win over the Brethren Bobcats.    Game Photos & Mark's report

March 1 WMD Tourney at Brethren
The fourth time was not a charm for the Onekama girls when they played the Brethren Bobcats in Brethren Saturday for the Conference North Division Tournament Championship. After finishing the regular season undefeated and beating the Bobcats three times the Portagers gave it their all  but came up short losing 26 to 18 in a rough and tumble battle. Jennica Mathieu led Onekama in scoring with 10 points, Emily Pomeroy had 6 and Jaylee "crazylegs" Brown chipped in two. Brown also had four steals and two rebounds. Mathieu and Danielle Ward each had six rebounds while Lindsay Nesburg grabbed three and Pomeroy two. Madeline Harvey and Gabrielle Bellinger play hard in the Portagers final game of the season which left them with a record of seven wins and one loss. ~ Bonnie's Game Photos & Mark Ward's Report
