ONEKAMA — The Onekama boys basketball team picked up its
third straight win with a 70-27 West Michigan D League victory against
Walkerville on Friday night.
The Portagers (9-4, 8-3 WMD) led 18-6 after the first
quarter and 33-14 at halftime before cruising in the second half.
Quinn Matthews paced Onekama with 17 points and five
assists, Bryce Reckow had four steals while Wyatt Szpliet and Joe Eno
had seven rebounds apiece. |
“I thought the first-unit guys played with a lot of
energy,” said Onekama coach Jim Hunter, adding that the reserves played
better in the second half. “We did what we should, we took the game.”
The Onekama JV team beat Walkerville 50-29. Jon Acton led
the Portagers with 14 points.
