Portagers win thriller
ONEKAMA — The Onekama baseball team rallied on three separate
occasions while pulling out a 9-8 victory against Pentwater in nine
innings on Thursday.
The second game of the West Michigan D League doubleheader was
suspended because of darkness with the game tied at 8 after three
innings.
Adrian Norman hit a crucial two-run homer in the eighth inning while
Jared Miller provided the walk-off RBI double in the ninth for the
win.
“For the first time all season, the whole bench and everyone was
into the game,” said Onekama coach John Neph. “They were really into
it. It was the best night of the season.”
Onekama rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the sixth, then matched
Pentwater’s one run in the seventh and three in the eighth.
Bryce Reckow started on the mound for Onekama and had six strikeouts
over seven innings while Nolan Miller threw the final two and got
the win.
