The Portagers (9-15) won the opener 8-7 and dropped the nightcap, 4-3. Onekama won the first game with a rally in the sixth as Jared Miller’s three-run double with two outs capped a four-run inning. “It was a very good comeback,” said Onekama coach John Neph. “It was nice to get that big hit out of Jared.” Miller finished the game 4-for-4 with six RBIs while Bryce Reckow had two hits and got the win on the mound after striking out three over six innings. The Portagers nearly mounted another successful rally in the second game, but Rease Heiler’s near game-tying home run hit the top of the fence and scored just one run. Stephen Verrett took the loss on the mound and had a hit while Miller had a hit and drove in a run.
