BALDWIN — The Onekama softball team swept a West Michigan D League doubleheader against Baldwin on Thursday.

The Portagers won the opener 14-7 and took game two by mercy rule in four innings, 18-3.
“Overall, we played much better defensively,” said Onekama coach Phil Sedelmaier. “The girls responded well. They hit the ball very well.” Emily Bergren got the win in both games. She allowed five hits to go with 12 strikeouts in the opener and threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the second game. She also had four hits and two RBIs in the opener. Nicole Slater and Kaitlin Kubiskey each had three hits and two RBIs while Carly Clark, Mikayla Johnson and Sierra Warner each had two hits. Brooke Sedelmaier went 4-for-4 with two RBIs in the second game while Slater had three hits and drove in three runs.
