Middle School Volleyball Players Take 2nd at the WMD Tourney

Saturday October 17 we traveled to Baldwin for the 8th grade tournament.  7th graders were invited to play with us and many came to play.  It was a very early day but fun and we played many games.  We were matched up with MCC in the first game which we won and sent them to the Losers bracket with the scores being 21-9 and 21-18.  We then advanced to play MCE in our second game.

We lost to MCE with the scores 13-21 and 5-21.  This lost sent us to the Losers bracket where we were matched up against Pentwater.  In the Pentwater game we won 21-7 and 21-15, which meant that we moved on to play Walkerville.  In the Walkerville game we lost the first game 11-21, won the second game 21-13, and won the third game 15-9 for the win.  We then moved on to play MCC and won the first game 21-17 and won the second game 21-12.  We than again moved on to play BRCC, we won in three games with the scores 21-19, 8-21 and 13-15.

This put us in the finals against Bear Lake.  We would have to beat Bear Lake twice cause they hadn't lost all day.  This tournament is a double elimination.  So we went up against BL and lost the first game 10-21 and then lost the second game 17-21.  Bear Lake won the tournament and Onekama took second.  It was an exciting day of many wins and many great plays and the girls worked really hard to make it all the way through the loser bracket to the finals.   ~Coach Keith
