Onekama Girls Basketball Grades 5-8 2007-2008





This year I am in fifth grade basketball. There are 10 girls on our team. Our coach is Randy Kott and Susan Zielinski. Our first game we played Bear Lake and we lost 20-22. I played forward. My basketball number was 41. I scored the first basket. I was so happy. After the game the whole team was hot and sweaty. It was really nasty. We were all happy we played well. I am glad I joined the team. ~Hanah	I'm on the fifth grade basketball team. We have a lot of players. On October 30th we lost by one basket. Our coaches were happy that we worked as hard as we could. But that 13 on Bear Lake loved the ball. I am so glad I got on the team. ~Julie	On October 30th we had our first game. We were all excited and nervous at one time. We played against Bear Lake. The position I play is forward. The game was close the whole time we played. Bear Lake was a really aggressive team. Even though we lost I had a great time playing. ~Janique	The game went really well last night on Tuesday 10/30/07. I'm in 5th grade but I was on the 6th grade team and we won 36-22. Bear Lake school was very good, but we were happy to win. Our coaches were very happy we won, but we still have to work on our boxing out. We are very happy about last night and we hope to win the next one against Brethren. ~Alexis

Last night the 5th grade basketball team had their first game. We played against Bear Lake. We had a great game. We only lost by one shot. I had a fun time playing. After the game I stayed to watch the 6th grade team play. They won. It was a fun night. ~Megan	We had our first basketball game on the 30th. Hanah made the first basket from the corner. We played against Bear Lake. That 13 is a monster with the ball. The twins did some pretty good lay ups and ran the ball down the court. Sadly we lost, but I'm sure we will do better next time. ~Anna	I was very nervous because it was my first game. We played against Bear Lake. It was fun to play. They had really big girls on their team. One time when I was boxing out a girl on their team pushed back and I almost went flying forward. I love to play basketball. ~Kayla K.	Last night, October 30th, the Onekama 5th grade girls basketball versed Bear Lake. We played six minute quarters. We lost by one basket. The score was 20 to 22. Hanah made the first basket. Hailey scored the second. Number 13 was really good, but she pushed people. I had a lot of fun playing our first game. ~Caitlin

It was our first game and we were really excited. And it was their third game and they already played. I was really nervous that we were going to lose and we did. Now I want to win the next time against Bear Lake. I also want to beat all the other teams we play. ~Taylor	We played Bear Lake and lost. All of us were very excited to play our first game. It was yesterday at 5:00. They had a player #13 on their team. She wouldn’t let me get the basketball at all. We would have another game against them but they did not have anuf people on their team. So our next game is against Brethren. ~Natasha	We were excited about the game yesterday. We played Bear Lake. Julie shot the ball and missed, and Hannah got the rebound and made it. I dribbled to the left and Hailey set a pick for me, and I made a basket! Hailey dribbled past a girl and she did a lay-up. I like to play basketball. It is my favorite sport. ~Tawny	We got beat by Bear Lake by 2 points. I picked a girl. She ran rit into me and she said, "Ouch". Tawny went in the lane and Tawny shot and made it. My dad is the coach of our team. I like having my dad as the coach. I like to play basketball. It is my favorite sport. Our next game is against Brethren. I hope we will win. ~Hailey




	This year I played on the fifth grade basketball team. My number was 41. We had 10 kids on our team. Our coaches Mrs. Zielinski and Mr. Kott are great coaches. The coaches have daughters on our team to. At our games there has been a lot of people. This picture was taken when we versed the Sabers from MCC. I am not sure if we won or we lost, it doesn’t really matter. All of my best friends are on my team. All the girls that are on the team are Caitlin, Tawny, Hailey, Taylor, Natasha, Janique, Megan, Julie, Anna, and I are on the team. I am so proud to be able to play and enjoy basketball. I love basketball so much. ~Hanah
