ONEKAMA — Crossroads Charter Academy pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 75-58 West Michigan D League win over Onekama on Wednesday.

Each team volleyed sustained runs in the contest, but the Cougars’ 28-point final frame proved to be the difference.

Derek Hobart hit five 3-pointers on the night and led the Portagers with 17 points, while Matthews scored 15 to go with five assists.

“We had some foul trouble,” Portagers coach Jim Hunter said. “Quinn (Matthews) picked his fourth foul early, and fouled out midway through the fourth. He’s our point guard, so we had a rough go out there without him. "

And (Crossroads) did a good job on the line,” he added. “We were in a situation where we had to start fouling and they knocked down 10-of-11 at the end. … They made them when they mattered.”

Onekama (1-11, 1-10 WMD) trailed by a point after a 17-16 first quarter, but scored 20 in the second for a 36-26 halftime lead.

CCA (6-9, 6-5 WMD) rattled off 21 third-quarter points to knot the game at 47 heading into the fourth.
