Onekama tops WMD opponent Bear Lake in 3

ONEKAMA — In West Michigan D League action, Onekama topped Bear Lake in three straight games Tuesday night, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.

“It was an exciting game with many hard serves and powerful spikes that they could not return.” Portagers coach Lanette Keith said. “We were glad to win in three games. I see many great plays out of the girls.”

Onekama’s Ashley Schultz led the way with 10 points including eight aces as well as 11 digs and two assists. Also for the Portagers, Jennica Mathieu had eight points with six aces, 18 digs, 10 spikes, and 16 assists, Nicki Slater had seven points with three aces, 17 digs, four spikes, and three assists, Ashley Hobart had six points with five aces, 12 digs, 10 spikes, two kills, two blocks, and one assist, Sherece Revolt scored five points with one ace, 31 digs, seven spikes, one kill and 17 sets, Kailani Buckner had four points with two aces, 16 digs, three spikes, one kill, and 28 sets, Katie Prielipp had 20 digs and two assists, Lindsay Nesburg had two digs, two spikes, and two assists, and Diamond Kimpel had four digs, two spikes, and two assists.

Mathieu and Nesburg were 100 percent at the service line for Onekama.

For the Lakers, Sarah Hilliard had seven points with one ace, Kaydee Swanson had five points with two aces, Jaimey Ferguson had four points with one ace with 12 attacks and two kills, Shelby Dansby had four points with one ace along with 14 attacks and three kills, Katie Alkire had four points with two aces, and Ashley Rupert had 10 attacks with three kills.

The Onekama junior varsity team topped the Lakers in two games, 25-21, 25-16.

Tonight the Onekama Portagers shut down the Bear Lake Lakers in three game for the conference Match.  The scores in tonight games were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-19.  It was an exciting game with many hard serves and powerful spikes that they could not return.  Ashley Schultz led the team with 10 points of which 8 were aces and 11 digs, with 2 assists.  Jennica Mathieu added 8 points, serving at 100% with 6 ace serves, 18 digs, 10 spikes and 16 assists.  Nicole Slater serving up 7 points on her birthday today, with 3 aces, 17 digs, 4 spikes and 3 assists.  Ashley Hobart serving up 6 points with 5 being ace serves, 12 digs, 10 spikes with 2 kills, 2 blocks and 1 assists.  Sherece Revolt scored 5 point for her team with 1 ace serve, 31 digs, 7 spikes, 1 block with 17 sets.  Kailani Buckner added 4 points with 2 ace serves, 16 digs, 3 spikes with 1 kill and 28 sets.  Katie Prielipp, our Libero dug up 20 in the back row and had 2 assists.  Lindsay Nesburg served up 100% with 2 digs, 2 spikes and 2 assists.  Diamond Kimpel had 4 digs, 2 spikes with 2 assist.  It was a very warm night in the gym and we were glad to win in three game, we had many long volleys and many great plays, I see many great plays out of the girls and looking toward to our next match at home vs. Big Rapid Cross Roads on Thursday Sept. 17th.
