Three games in a week is a lot for any team, but the Portagers
didn’t allow that to hold them back in their come from behind charge
Saturday afternoon against the Brethren Bobcats. Despite playing
lethargic for the first two quarters, the Portagers went into
halftime only down by 5. Determined to keep battling, the Portagers
chipped away in the third and made a huge 23-14 run in the 4th
to make the game one to watch. Led by seniors Kelsey Acker and
Alyssa Cole, the ball was stolen to regain possession and a free was
made to help seal the lead by one, but not necessarily the win.

Two free throws were missed by the Bobcats with 3 seconds left in the
game allowing the Portagers to claim win #3. This win continued the
great start in 2008 and finished off a fun week for the Portagers —snowcoming,
future stars, 1997 alumni recognition, and two wins against quality
teams. Thanks to those who showed their school spirit and enjoyed the
week with us.
The Portagers are next in action Tuesday, January
15 at Manistee Catholic Central. Tip off is at 6:00. Hope to see you
there.
