The Onekama Portagers played tough in Monday night’s match up
against the Walkerville Wildcats. It was a great 1st
game of 2008. The team played together with a lot of heart, pride,
and aggressiveness allowing for many strides to be made toward team
and individuals goals. Unfortunately, throughout the close game the
Wildcats were able to get more shots to fall thus allowing them to
capture the win 54-43. Leading the offensive charge were Kelsey
Acker, Kieran O’Connor, and Paige Rutowski combining for 31 points.

Paige, Chelsea and Carmen hauled down some great rebounds combining for
18. While Alyssa and Olivia lead the defensive wall with Alyssa having
4 steals.
The Portagers are next in action at home on
Thursday, January 10, against Bear Lake. Future Stars will be joining
in at the halftime of jv/varsity games.
Saturday, Jan 12th the Portagers
welcome back the 1997 Girl’ Basketball Semi Finalist Team. Games start
at 12 noon!
