Slow Start Proves To Be Costly For JV Hoops
Thursday night's match-up against the Cardinals of Mason County Eastern proved to be a learning experience for both JV Girls' Portager basketball players and coaches.  The Cardinals poured an offensive attack that the Portagers were unable to respond to scoring-wise in the 1st quarter.

MCE outshot the Portagers 20-0 by the 1st quarter buzzer.  The Portagers rallied back in the 2nd quarter, scoring 10 points to the Cardinals 4.  The last half of the game was close, but the Portagers were unable to post enough points on the board to claim the win.  The final score was MCE 39 and the Portagers 23.
Leading in scoring for the Onekama Portagers was Sherece Revolt with 13 points, followed by Taylor Hagen with 6.  Also scoring for the Portagers was Brooke Sedalmaier who cashed in 3 points, and Katie Prielipp who sunk 1 free throw.  Sherece Revolt was the team's leading rebounder with 12 boards, followed by Diamond Kimpel with 10.  Both Sherece Revolt and Brooke Sedalmaier led the team in steals with 6 apiece.

The Portager JV Girls' Basketball team will next see action this Saturday night, at home, against Lake Leelanau St. Mary's.  Tip off is at 6 pm.
