Tonight the Portagers came away with their second straight win defeating Baldwin 66-43.

Now 5-6 in the league, this win puts the Portagers one step closer to maintaining 4th place in the league. Heading into halftime, the Portagers led by only nine with a score 30-21 despite an impressive 1st half start.  Coming out in the third quarter, the Portagers outscored the Panthers 15-4 allowing for a nice twenty point lead going into the fourth.  Execution and patience were the game plan throughout the fourth quarter and the Portagers prevailed in both putting their overall record to 5-9.

Before and after every practice and game we talk about teamwork.  "Teamwork" exceeded the Panther pressure and efforts. Three players finished with double figures. Bonnie Harthun and Marlee Herkelrath each had 14 points while Ronnie Maidens had 12 points. Four players had 10 or more rebounds.  Marlee Herkelrath led the way ripping down 13 boards. Bonnie Harthun and Alyssa Cole each pulled down 12 while Stephanie Ashworth had 11 boards.  There were 22 assists and ONLY 9 turnovers.  Having only 9 turnovers put the Portagers well below their turnover goal of 12.
Thursday's game at Pentwater determines the fate of 4th place either being all Onekama's or split between the Falcons. The Portagers head to Pentwater defending their pride against a very hungry Pentwater team seeking revenge. Make the travel and cheer your Portagers on as they head into battle.
