Onekama 33 vs Northport 23

An up and down season is officially over for the Onekama Junior Varsity team. On Tuesday, the Onekama Portagers defeated the Northport Wildcats, 33-23 in non-league action. Onekama led at the end of the first quarter, 11-0 and then went cold in the second period and led at the intermission, 17-13. After making adjustments at the break, the Portagers came out and took care of business outscoring the visitors, 16-10 in the second half. The Portagers had a well-balanced scoring attack to close out the season. Onekama was led in scoring by two individuals, Stacey Keith with eight points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and two assists. The birthday girl on the night, Olivia Bolthouse had eight points to go along with two steals and two rebounds. Chelsea Miller had five points.

Paige Rutowski contributed four points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Carmen Howard had four points, six rebounds and two steals. Kieran O'Connor had two points, four rebounds and three steals.

The Portagers finished the 2005 season with a record of 7-11. All six members of the JV will be joining the Varsity team for the MHSAA District Tournament next week in Frankfort. ...Coach Harju
