| Who
would have thought that the Portagers would be facing off
for the District Title on August 15th? Only their
coach, who continually challenged and believed it could
be done. In the locker room during our post game
against Northport, our focus became getting to the
District Final against Frankfort. A goal that was
accomplished on Tuesday night when we beat Buckley.
Facing fourth ranked
Frankfort, the Portagers knew they had a large task at
hand. The mentality was to control the things that
could be controlled and don’t back down. The
team accomplished this mission, rising to the challenge
of each task given throughout the game.
Unfortunately, season struggles continued to plague the
Portagers against a solid Frankfort team.

The
Portagers finished their season with a 22-65 loss,
putting them at 7-13 overall. Thanks to all the parents, staff,
students, and community members who have supported our
efforts all season. You, along with these young
ladies, deserve to be applauded for all the hard work put
into making our 2005 season a success.
