| Led by Seniors Bonnie Harthun and
Ginny Ashworth, the Portagers came out fired up and
ready to play against the Bulldogs of
Mesick. The Portagers played a
great debute game with great execution on the
defensive end. There were several steals, forced
turnovers and over the back fouls.
Unfortunately, the Portagers fell short in the end with a
final score of 19-28. Marlee Herkelrath led in
both rebounds and points with 5
defensive boards, 4 offensive boards, and 7
points. Kelsey Acker finished with 2
steals, 4 assists, and 2 points. Bonnie
Harthun had 5 steals and 2 points.
Alyssa Cole picked off 3 steals and had 2
points. Ronnie Maidens knocked down two baskets for
4 points, as Ginny Ashworth pulled down 3 key rebounds
and finished with 2 points. |
The Junior Varisty Portagers
also saw action against the Mesick
Bulldogs. A great 32 minute effort was put forth by
all five players. Final score was Mesick 38,
Onekama 26. Leading scorer was Chelsea Miller with
12 points. The Portagers see action this
Tuesday at Mason County Eastern. Note the
change in schedule due to gym reconstruction.
