On May 29, 2009 the  fourth grade went to Mackinac Island. We past the Grand Hotel. The Grand Hotel is big. My favorite part was when we went to the butterfly house. A butterfly landed on my shoulder. It was cool. James was one of my tour girds. He was funny. I was in the Haske’s group. Mackinac Island was so fun. ~Kassie

This year fourth grade went to Mackinac Island. My favorite thing was the Mackinac Bridge. I have never been to the Mackinac Bridge. The Mackinac Bridge was awesome. It is the second biggest bridge in the world. The Mackinac Bridge was cool. ~McKayla H

On May 29, 2009 Mrs. Bennett’s fourth grade class went to Mackinac Island. We left at 5:15 am and got back at around 9:00 at night. At Mackinac Island we saw a lot of historical land marks there. One of my favorite things was Fort Mackinac. I liked Fort Mackinac because it had a really neat building with a reenactment of the war and it had a gunshot sound affect. I also liked the fort because they had people dressed up like soldiers that shot guns but instead of using bullets they used gun powder. Another Thing that was my favorite was Arch Rock. Arch Rock had a rock on the side that looked like a face. One more thing that was my favorite was the Wings of Mackinac butterfly house. I saw a few Monarch butterflies and a few Blue Morpho butterflies. After our tours we got to do what we wanted for a couple of hours. Then after that we went to the ferry dock and took a Shepler’s ferry back. Those are some things we did at Mackinac Island. ~Kelly

On May 29th, 2009 the Onekama third and fourth grade went to Mackinac Island. We had to load the bus at 5:15 in the morning. It took us 3 and a half hours to get there. At 9:20 we loaded the ferry. I rode on the top. When we got there we went on a carriage tour. Our tour guide told us about the history of the island. We also went to the Wings Of Mackinac, a butterfly house. After our carriage tour, we went to Fort Mackinac. We saw a lot of historic buildings. After we went to the Fort, Grace, Kassidy and I had lunch at Marquette Park. After we had lunch, we went to the haunted house with Lauryn. It was so dark that Lauryn’s  mom  had to use her cell phone light to lead us out! After the Haunted House, we went bike riding. I had an accident. I was trying to pass Grace on her right and she rounded a little too tight and I fell off my bike hard! My favorite part of Mackinac Island was the ferry ride back. The waves were so high so we got soaked! I had an excellent time at Mackinac Island. ~Kiara

On May 29th 2009 the Third and Fourth grade classes went to Mackinac Island. It took 4 hours to get there when we got there we went over the bridge and back. After that we went on the ferry to the Island we got soaked on the way there. Once we got to the island we took a carriage tour to the butterfly house which was actually called Wings of Mackinac. My favorite part was when we were at the fort they fired the cannon. Then we got 3 hours of free time on the island we went to the haunted house the magic shop and the fudge shop’s. Then after that we went on the ferry back to the mainland and on the way the whole other side got soaked. The Mackinac Island field trip was my favorite trip ever. ~Austin

On May 29, 2009 the fourth and third grades went to Mackinac Island. One of my favorite parts of the trip was when the carriage stopped at Arch Rock. It was interesting because it is an arch and rocks never form that way. Another one of my favorites was fort because it shows how soldiers lived long ago in wars. Of course we got famous Mackinac Island fudge. On the way back we rode on Shepler’s and got soaked! ~Kyle

Every year the fourth graders go to Mackinac Island. This year I went. I had a lot of fun. My first favorite part was when Grace, her mom, Kiara, her dad, lauryn, her dad, and finally my mom and I. My second favorite thing is the ferry ride back. The reason I liked it is because I sat is back of the ferry and I got very wet. ~K.W.

On April, 29th Mrs. Bennett’s class went to Mackinac Island.  It took our class four hours to get to Mackinac city.  The first thing Mrs. Bennett’s class did was they went on the ferry.  The ferry’s name is the shepler.   We got soaked head to toe when we were heading to Mackinac Island.  The first thing I liked a lot was the carriage tour. There was this guy that talked to us about the island. He was a very kind gentleman.  Then we went to a butterfly garden. It had the entire endangered butterfly’s there. One of the butterflies landed on me.  It first started on my necklace then the butterfly moved to my yellow shirt. Then later it moved to the strip for my lunch box. I think that butterfly loved me after that we went to this museum.  Then after that we went on this other carriage tour. Our tour was really funny. He told us a joke where if we get lost on the islands always fallow the road apples = horse poop! After that we went to the British fort. Then a1 hour later we went to do our own stuff. My mom and I went to the haunted house it was really scary. We did lots of stuff at Mackinac Island. ~Taler
