Cheerleading News: First Game
Sports Last season I was on the 5th Grade Girls Basketball team. I was number 14. Most of the time I played possison 2. It is when you run the ball down the court. Olivia was number 50 and she played possison 1 most the time. We also won most of our games. We beat Brethren at our first game it wasn’t even funny! Our coach Mrs. Salyer was so cool. She made us do sprints and stretch a lot. Before I started basketball I didn’t like it at all but know it is my favorite sport. Next year I am going to play it again. Cheerleading
Practice Cheerleading is really fun. I like to go to practice too. It's fun to be with your friends. At the beginning of each practice we spend about 20 minutes stretching. That's why it's important to wear exercise pants or shorts, but not jeans. After we're done stretching we do some clapping warm ups. One is counting to eight and clapping between the numbers. Another one is counting to eight and clapping on the number. In all of our cheers there is some clapping so we have to know when to clap. After that we're ready to practice our cheers. Most of our cheers have spelling in them like B-B-B-A-S-K-K-K-E-T B-A-S-K-E-T basket boys, basket. Another cheer with spelling in it is Be Aggressive, B-E Aggressive B-E A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E. There is a bunch more cheers that have spelling in them and other cheers too but those are some of the shorter ones. I like cheerleading a lot. It's really fun and great exercise. |
Sports This fall I played basketball. Out of the whole season we won all of the games except two. I made my first basket at Freesoil. In Frankfort they combined the fifth and sixth graders together. I jammed my finger at a home game against Bear Lake. I really like basketball. The sport I am doing right now is cheerleading. It’s really fun. I think the cheers are cool. Our coach is Mrs. Kenny. She is nice. At the games the sixth graders don’t have that many people so we cheer with them. Our game at Brethren we got in a fight with the other cheerleaders. Over nothing! All we did was copy the cheers that they had and we had them too. I hope we win our next game on Saturday January 19th. Cheerleading is really fun. I will cheer next year too. Cheerleading I am on the cheerleading squad with a lot of my friends. I am going to cheer again next year. At the first game the cheerleaders for the other team didn’t know any cheers. When we did easy cheers they would try and copy us, but when they started we would do it again so loud that you couldn’t here them. At half time we did my favorite cheer "stomp and shake it". At the first quarter we did the one when at the end the crowd would shout "WE ARE THE PORTAGERS" really loud. I don’t remember what we did for the third quarter. At the end of the game we went by the boys locker room and made a tunnel with our arms and the boys ran through. By the way we won. Cheering I am in the 5th grade and I play basketball and I cheer. I have a lot of fun. My favorite sport is probably basketball. I had a lot of fun in basketball. Almost all the girls were in basketball, but not all of them. We had a big team. We won all the games except for two. We were good. I also like cheerleading it is fun. We have all the girls cheerleading except for two people. We have a lot of fun. I think that our team was good. I thought that we did very good when we played the first game. I thought that we had to work harder so we could get better so we can get better for next year.
