The young Portagers continued their "up and down" roller coaster ride, problem is, this time they found themselves on the bottom of the ride, losing for the second time to inter-county rival Bear Lake 40 to 32. Joe Eno and Quinn Matthews lead the team in scoring, Eno doing his job down low connecting for 9 pts, while Matthews worked the fast break and laid in 8 pts, following close behind were Bryce Reckow with 6 and Jacob Florian netting 4. Also contributing with one basket each were Josh Jacobs and Parker Sternberger. Curtis McKinney rounded out the scoring with a free throw. As luck would have it, the Portagers will be playing the Lakers again next Wednesday, when they face them in the first round of the League Championship. On a high note, despite this loss, the team had an excellent opportunity last night to see what it's going to take to beat the League Leading Lakers when they meet them in tournament play next week... which we all believe they have the ability of doing!
The team will also have one more opportunity to hone their game skills when they face the Brethren Bobcats next Monday at Brethren... Go Portagers!!!
