Onekama's Middle School Portagers
Defeat the Brethren Bobcats 22-14
to become
The Middle School
League Champions
Revenge is sweet, but sometimes costly… the Portagers (4-1) redeemed themselves with a big win against the only team they lost to in the season opener. The victory didn't come easy, the Portages loss RB Quinn Matthews for the season late in the 1st Qtr to a broken leg and Adrian Norman was also shaken up on a strong hit in the 2nd half, but the Portagers wouldn't give up and the young warriors fought back and defeated the Bobcats 22-14 in the rematch to take sole title of Middle School League Champions.      Adrian Norman led the scoring attack with (2) TD's, including a 95 yd kick off return. Nick Streeter also scored on a 9yd pass from Norman, while Scott Wethy and Tyler Fogarty added to the score with two conversions. Defensively, Fogarty was all over the field and ended the game with a season high 25 tackles. Jacob Florian was in on nine and Streeter added another six.
The Portagers will be playing their final game of the season with a non-league game against a tough Lake City team on Tuesday the 23rd. ~Coach Matthews
