Composer Research Project

Sixth grade students in Ms. Eichberger's Music Appreciation/Keyboarding class researched great composers of the piano.

Each student choose a composer from the Baroque, Classical, Romatic, or Modern periods. They were required to write an essay and create a poster dipicting the composer's life and music.

Composers researched were Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Satie, Clara Schumann, Scott Joplin, Swedish composer Erik Satie, Johannes Brahms, and the great composition teacher, Nadia Boulanger.

During the research portion of the project, the class discovered many strange and humorous pieces of information about the famous musicians. For example, Brahms who wrote the famous "Lullaby and goodnight..." was an infamous snorer. Erik Satie collected hankerchiefs. Beethoven had a terrible temper and had a very messy house. Clara Schumann wed her husband Robert Schumann without her parent's consent, and Bach had over twenty children!

To learn more about these famous composers of the piano, check out the hallway outside room 341.
