Portagers Top Baldwin in non-league match
Baldwin, Aug. 23 ~ The Onekama Volleyball
Team cruised past Baldwin on Thursday, sweeping the match in three games
(25-19) (25-19) (25-11).
The West Michigan D League foes will meet
later in the season, but Thursday's contest was not counted toward
league standing.
It was, however a bounce-back victory for
the Portagers who struggled in a tournament at Frankfort earlier in the
week. |
I think everybody was playing more
aggressively, which was one of the things I was asking out of them after
our tournament in Frankfort," said Onekama coach Sherri Slater of her
squad that played without subs Thursday. "And across the board, the
statistics were even. There wasn't very much disparity. We saw some good
contributions from everybody. It was a whole team effort."
Onekama's Alexis Tribfelner led the team in
aces with six and went 14-of15 from the service line. Anna Brown was
12-for-12 serving with four aces, three kills and a team-high 10
assists; Hailey Kott was 12-for-12 serving with five kills and three
assists; and Becky Cunningham added four kills. |
