Portagers top Panthers for first victory

ONEKAMA — The Onekama volleyball team notched its first victory of the season Thursday with a 24-26, 25-13, 25-15, 25-10 West Michigan D League win over Baldwin.

“It was a very solid team effort,” Portagers coach Sherri Slater said of rallying for three straight wins after dropping Game 1 to the Panthers. “They did a great job.”

Nicole Slater was 95 percent at the service line for Onekama while tallying eight aces, 20 assists and one block. The Portagers’ Jennica Mathieu had three aces while Gabriella Bellinger added two.
