Manistee News Advocate Staff Report— The Manistee High
School wrestling team lost to host Manton, 42-37, but defeated
Mancelona, 63-18, Wednesday, January 14th.
“We could have defeated Manton, too,” coach
Chris Codden said. “It was a chess match, but they played better chess
than me. But, we’ll see Manton again.” Codden said that he had
some junior varsity wrestlers in the mix, and with hindsight, he would
not have done that.
Double winners for Manistee were: Alex
Myers (103), Caleb Bailey (119/125), Nick Carter (125/130), Tyler
Fogarty (140) and Raul Torres (heavyweight). Winners against Manton
were: Myers (103), Bailey (119), Carter (125), Tyler Fogarty (140), Jon
Hogier (145), Cody Polcik (215), and Torres (heavyweight). |
Manistee wrestlers losing their
matches against Manton were: Brian Fisk (112), Tucker Bruce (130),
Dakota Girard (135), Luke Fogarty (152), Dan Wehrmeister (160), Tyler
Knudsen (171), and Nathan Rybicki (189).
Winners against Mancelona were Myers
(103), Brian Fisk (112), Kara Gunia (119), Bailey (125), Nick Carter
(130), Tyler Fogarty (140), Luke Fogarty (145), Jesse Kelly (152), Dan
Wehrmeister (160), Nathan Rybicki (189), and Torres (heavyweight).
Losing against Mancelona opponents were: Tucker Bruce (135), Tyler
Knudsen (171), and Alex Waterman (215).
“We improved our duals to where the team’s
almost at .500, better than probably the last 10 years at Manistee,”
Codden said. |
