Onekama sweeps Baldwin
BALDWIN — Onekama won both games of its doubleheader against
Baldwin Thursday, winning 10-3 in the first game and 11-10 in
the nightcap.
Portagers’ Thomas Koon captured the first win on the mound with
the help of his 11 strikeouts.
At the plate for Onekama, Shawn Gonyon had three hits while Zach
Teachout had two.
It took seven innings to decide a winner in the nightcap.
While down 10-7 going into their last at-bats in the bottom of
the sixth, the Portagers were able to score three runs off four
hits in a row, sending the game into extra innings.
In the bottom of the seventh Hunter Slade hit a two-out RBI
single driving in Joe Kosiboski for the game winning run. The
hit was Slade’s fourth of the game.
Onekama sophomore Nathan Fitch received the pitcher’s win for
the Portagers.
