In the final regular season Cross Country Meet of the year for the Bear Lake /Onekama Cross Teams . The bus departed Bear Lake at 7:00 a.m headed towards the Elk Rapids Inv. On a windy cloudy morning with the temperatures in the mid 50’s and rising during the morning hours At 9:00 a.m. the first to run was the Girls JV runners with 51 runners in it from all 4 Divisions. Bear Lake/Onekama had one runner, Katerine Schomke, who finished in 26th place with a time of 25:13 Next to run was the JV boys. Again all 99 runners from all four divisions were put in one bracket. The Boys overall finish was 6th place as a team There order of finished is as follows:
For the Girls Varsity Team they ran all four divisions together then sorted them out in to Div.1&2 and Div.3&4 The girls finished in 6th place with Div. 3&4 schools First Benzie Central (Div. 3) 43 pts., 2nd Harbor Springs (Div.4) 69 pts., 3rd Kingsley (Div.3)103 pts., 4th Elk Rapids(Div.3) 120 pts. 5th Manton (Div.4) 152 pts., 6th Bear Lake/Onekama (Div. 4) 179 pts. 7th Glen Lake (Div.4) 185pts., 9th Traverse City St. Francis (Div. 4) 217 pts.;13th Mesick(Div.4) 364 pts. Suttons Bay didn’t have enough runners. Our girls overall finish with Div 3&4 schools which had 91 runners is:
For the Varsity Boys Team they ran all four Divisions together then sorted them out into Div. 1&2 and Div 3&4. The Boys finished 4th place with Div.3&4 schools. First Benzie Central (Div.3) 42 pts., 2nd Elk Rapids (Div.3) 65 pts., 3rd Harbor Springs (Div.4) 89pts.; 4th Bear Lake/Onekama (Div.4) 129 pts. ; 5th Manton (Div.4) 170 pts., 8th Traverse City St. Francis (Div.4) 179 pts., 9th Suttons Bay (Div.4) 205. Glen Lake and Mesick didn’t have enough runners. Our Boys overall finish with Div.3&4 schools which had 79 runners;
For our Varsity Girls and Boys up next is Regionals at Benzie Central next Saturday Oct. 27th Girls run at 2:45 p.m. and Boys at 4:15 p.m. Good Luck to Coach Ross our 2 Senior Boys Jordan Maxey and Justin Zupin and the rest of the runners next Saturday at Benzie. The alternate runner for the girls is Katherine Schomke and for the boys it is Weston Brooks. Also Thanks very much to Senior Jade Wethy and Alex Callaway whose injuries and illness have kept them from running most of season for being at the finishing line writing the runners times down as they cross the finish line. We are still waiting to see what Coach Ross T-Shirt looks like. Coach Ross said he hasn’t got his T- Shirt yet . |

Cross Country
for middle and high school is a "co-op" between Bear Lake and Onekama. JV , Middle School and Varsity Football are also a "co-op" between the two schools. |
