Cross Country Boys take 3rd Benzie Invitational

A new season started Saturday for the Bear Lake/Onekama Cross Country teams. Along with it came a new Head Coach for the Girls and Boys High School teams. The new head coach is Eric Ross. Eric is replacing Dal Townsend and the newly married Mrs. Kelly Lyman as the head coach. Thanks, Dal, for your many years of coaching at Bear Lake. Best of luck to you in the future. Kelly, thanks for coaching the girls the past few years.

Order of finish for our boys is

  •  5th Chuckie Schoedel        17:53 Medal

  • 18th Jordan Maxey            18:41 Medal

  • 22nd Jaron Llewellyn         19:09 Medal

  • 26th Justin Zupin              19:32 Medal (1st Varsity race and Personal Record)

  • 27th Danny Brown             19:33 Medal

  • 28th John Evans                19:33 Medal

  • 31st Ryan Pienta                19:52 (1st Varsity race and Personal Record)

The Varsity Boys also took 3rd place out of about 12 full teams and 78 boys ran this race. In 1st place was Hesperia with 41 points, 2nd place Kingsley 78 points 3rd place Bear Lake/Onekama 91 points  our conference foe Mason County Eastern finished in 7th place with 168 points.

For our Junior Varsity boys they put all 4 Division together and we had 6 runners enough to make a team and they finished in 3rd place as a team there times are listed below as didn’t get there overall place of finish,

The next meet will be the MCE Classic on September 5th at West Shore Community College with the start time at 4:15 p.m. The Middle School, coached by Anthony Torres, will also race.
