Onekama Portagers Sweep 3-0 Victory
over the Baldwin Panthers.
ONEKAMA – Onekama’s girls volleyball team opened Western Michigan D League play Thursday night with a 3-0 victory over the Baldwin Panthers.

The Portagers won the first game, 25-13. Baldwin made it a little closer in the second, but Onekama prevailed, 25-18, and then took the third game, 25-15.

Veronica Maidens was the Portagers’ top server, finishing the match with 14 points. She also had five spikes at the attack line, and eight assists.

Stacey Keith contributed eight points and had eight spikes. 

Megan Nesburg also had eight service points, and put down two spikes. She was also strong in the back row.

Kelsy Acker had 15 sets, and added three service points.

Amber Maidens scored five points, had three spikes and four assists.

Stephanie Ashworth finished with six points, two spikes and four assists.

Onekama lost the junior varsity match in three games. The Portagers lost the first game, 14-21. They won the second, 21-10. But, they lost the third, 15-17.

The Portagers play Manistee Catholic Central at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
