Dec. 10 Away Pentwater The JV opened their season at home on 12/10/04 against the Pentwater Falcons in a conference game and came away with a win by the score of 53-37. Leading the young Portagers in scoring was Nate Griswold with 21, Nick Bradford 8, Jordon Pomery & Tayler Fraley each put in 6 points, Trevor Miller 5, Dave Gillespie 4, Shawn McKenney 2 and Justin Sedlemaier 1.
Dec. 11 Home 6:00 MCC On 12/11/04 the MCC Sabers came to Onekama and the Portagers got their 2nd win of the season by a score of 63-39 in a non-conference game. Nate Griswold netted 19 points, Tayler Fraley tossed in 15, Dave Gillespie chipped in with 10, Jordon Pomery added 8, Nick Bradford chipped in with 5, Justin Sedlemaier 4, and Trevor Miller 2 as their season record is 2-0 and 1-0 in conference play.
Dec. 14 Home TC Christian On 12/14/04 the Traverse City Christian Sabres traveled to OHS gym to take on the young Portagers and the Portagers came out on top to win by a score 60-37 in a non-conference game. Leading the scoring was Tayler Fraley whom swished through 19 points, Nate Griswold netted 13, Nick Bradford connected for 10, Dave Gillespie & Justin Sedlemaier each added 8 and Trevor Miller 2. As their season record is 3-0 and 1-0 in conference play.
Dec. 17 Away MCE On 12/17/04 the young Portagers hit the road for the first time this season in a conference game with the MCE Cardinals and came away with their 4 straight win of the season by a score of 65-55. Leading the young Portagers was Dave Gillespie whom swished through 18 points. Justin Sedlemaier netted 17, Tayler Fraley added 13, Nate Griswold connected for 12, Jordon Pomery and Nick Bradford each added 2 points as the Portagers record is now 4-0 and 2-0 in conference play and are off now until after Christmas break.
Jan. 4 Home Walkerville On the 1/04/05 the Walkerville Wildcats came to OHS to take on the undefeated Portagers and once again the Portagers came out with a win by the score of 71-58 in conference play. Leading the way tonight in scoring tonight was Tayler Fraley as he swished through 22 points,Nate Griswold nailed down 19, Dave Gillespie netted 17, NickBradford 6, Jordon Pomery 5 and Jim Kosiboski 2. As the Portagers now are 5-0 and 3-0 in conference play
Jan.7 Away Brethren The Portagers traveled to Brethren to take on there county rival the Bobcats and try and keep there win streak intact. The young Portagers were ready to play again this Friday night as they came away with a 61 to 43 win. Leading the Portagers in scoring tonight was Nate Griswold whom hit the nets for 21, Dave Gillespie swished in 15, Trayler Fraley added 10, Nick Bradford 6, Kosiboski connected for 5 and Trevor Miller and Jordan Pomery had 2 points each.
Jan. 11 Away Frankfort The Portagers were on the road again this time to the Home of our neighbors to the north the Frankfort Panthers were they were able to scratch and crawl their way to their 7 straight win in a very exciting overtime win by the score of 64-61 in non-conference play. Tonight's leading scores was Tayler Fraley as he swished in 23 points, Nate Griswold connected for 19, Dave Gillespie put in 16, Jordan Pomery added 4 and Nick Bradford added 2.
Jan. 14 home Bear Lake County rivals, the Bear Lake Lakers, came to the OHS gym to try and slow down these young Portagers in a conference game, but like the other teams, they fell to the Portagers before a packed house by a score of 68-54. Leading the young Portagers tonight in scoring was Nate Griswold as he connected for 26 points, Trayler Fraley added 22, Dave Gillespie chipped in with 8, Nick Bradford 7, Justin Sedlemaier 4 and Jordon Pomery 1. As they extended their winning streak to 8 games and their season record is now 8-0 and 5-0 in conference play. They are now off until 1/25/05 when the Baldwin Panthers will come to Onekama

Jan. 21 Away MCC While the Varsity basketball team was playing the Freesoil Pirates, which doesn't have a JV team, the young Portagers traveled to MCC to take on their JV team in a non-conference game. They were trying to keep their 8 game win streak without Talyer Fraley who has been moved up to the Varsity. The Young Portagers jumped out to a halftime lead of 30-21 and kept the ball rolling in the 2nd half. They won their 9th straight game by a score of 49-39. Leading the Portager attack tonight was Nick Bradford whom swished through 16 points, Dave Gillespie connected for 12, Nate Griswold added 9, Jim Kosiboski & Justin Sedlemaier had 4 each, Shawn McKenney 3 and Jordan Pomery 1 They now are 9-0 and 5-0 in conference play.
Jan 25 at Home Baldwin On 1/25/05 the Baldwin Panthers were at the OHS gym to try and stop Onekama's winning streak. In a very exciting game, and with no time left on the clock, and the score tied at 48 each, Baldwin was at the free throw line. With all eyes on their player, he nailed the 1st free throw to end the Portagers winning streak at 9 games. Baldwin squeaked out a 48-49 win. Pacing the Portagers tonight was Nate Griswold as he swished in 19 points, Dave Gillespie put in 9, Justin Sedlemaier & Nick Bradford added 8 each and Jordan Pomery had 4. Their record is now 9-1 and 5-1 in conference.
Jan28 Home Pentwater The Pentwater Falcons flew into Onekama to take on the Portagers in a conference game. At the half the Portagers were up by a score of 24-11 and came out just as strong in the 2nd half to beat the Falcons by a score 53-32. Pacing the Portagers tonight was Dave Gillespie as he netted 14 points. Nate Griswold put in 12, Nick Bradford connected for 10, Justin Sedlemaier added 7, Shawn McKenney 3, Jordan Pomeroy 2 and Jim Kosiboski 1. All the players got in the scoring column tonight as they improved their season record to 10-1 and their conference record to 6-1 They next will take on MCE Tuesday 2/01/05 in a conference game.
Feb.1 Home MCE The MCE Cardinals came to OHS gym to take on our Portagers in a conference game. It also was family night where the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams along with their coaches were introduced between games. The Cardinals got off to a flying start against the Portagers but our Portagers were able to cut the lead down to 3 points at the half as it was 24-27. The second half was close but tonight the a Portagers just couldn't out do the Cardinals and lost by a score of 42-47. Leading the Portagers in scoring tonight was Nate Griswold whom swished through 18 points, Dave Gillespie netted 10, Justin Sedlemaier added 9 and Nick Bradford had 5. The Portagers season record is now 10-2 and 6-2.
Feb. 4 Away Walkerville The JV Portagers traveled to Walkerville to take on the Wildcats in a conference game. The Portagers were able to hold off the wildcats to come away with a victory by the score of 64-50. Pacing the Portagers attach tonight was Nate Griswold as he swished through 19, Dave Gillespie netted 15, Anthony Reedy kicked in with 10, Shawn McKenney & Nate Bradford each added 6 each, Trevor Miller, Jordan Pomery, Jim Kosiboski and Justin Sedlemaier all added 2 each as everybody scored tonight. The Victory put the Portagers record at 11-2 and 7-2 in conference play.
Feb. 5 Away MCC The Portagers traveled to MCC to take on arch county rival the Sabers in a non-conference game. The young Portagers never looked back as they jumped out to a first quarter lead and beat the Sabers by a score of 56-32. Pacing the Portagers tonight was Nate Griswold as he netted 11 points, Dave Gillespie & Nick Bradford connected for 10 each, Anthony Reedy nailed 9, Jordan Pomery 6, Tevor Miller & Justin Sedlemaier 4 each, and Jim Kosiboski 2 as the Portagers improved their record to 12-2 and 7-2 in conference play.
Feb. 8 Home Mesick On 2/08/05 the Mesick Bulldogs came over to the Onekama gym to take on Portagers in a non-conference game. The Portagers jumped out to a 12 point halftime lead of 35-23 and never looked back as they put up another victory by a score of 68-40. Swishing through 20 points was Nate Griswold, followed by Justin Sedlemaier as he netted 16. Nick Bradford canned 12 points, Jim Kosiboski nailed 9, Dave Gillespie added 6, Trevor Miller 3 and Shawn McKenney 2. The Portagers improved their season record to 13-2 and 7-2 in conference play.

There will be an Empty Bowl Soup Supper before the Mesick game 4:30-7:00. Price $5 adults, $3 children 10 and under. Proceeds will go to the National Honor Society's Tsunami Relief fund.

Feb.11 Home Brethren On the 2/11/05 cross county rival the Brethren Bobcats came to OHS gym to take on our JV team in a conference game and parent night for our JV and Varsity teams. The Portagers played their last home game for the season. At the half the Portagers trailed the bobcats by a score of 30-36 and at the start of the 4th quarter the Portagers were down by a score of 49-58 as the Bobcats controlled the lead for the most of the night and beat the Portagers by a score of 70-79. Leading the attack for the Portagers tonight was Nick Bradford swishing through 26 points, Dave Gillespie netted 23 , Nate Griswold added 14, Justin Sedlemaier 4 and Jim Kosiboski 3. The season record is now 13-3 and their conference record is 7-3.
