Onekama Golf Team Finishes in a Tie
for Second Place Overall in Conference. Oct. 5, 2004 <--Jordan , on the left, Medaled with his score of 90 for 18 holes at today's Conference Finals held at Oceana Golf Club. The
Conference Championship Tournament was held 10-5-04 at
Oceana Golf Club just south of Hart, Michigan.Walkerville
hosted the event. The Portagers had 2 Medalists when the
match was over and the Team closed the conference race
with a tie for second place with MCE. In speaking with
Coach Zadow, she believes this is the highest ranking the
Team has ended with during the 12 years of existence.
Brethren/BearLake finished first in the conference
standings and ended with a 14-1 record with OHS giving
them their only loss in the conference this season. OHS's
4th place finish today has given them a final record of
10-5 in the Conference race. Conference Final Standings Overall are:
Match Medalist/Champion was Cory Brown , a Freshman from Brethren/BearLake who shot an 81. OHS's score of 404 came from Jordan Pomeroy's 90, Nathan Griswold's 93, Todd Lyman's 109 and Chris Smith's 112. Jordan and Nathan both received Conference Medals today. Also shooting for Onekama today but no factor in the score, were Josh Cebula with his 119 and Tim Veverica with a 123. Tim and Josh follow Chris's shot as it lands on the 17th green during the OHS hosted Jamboree back on 9-21-04 at TheHeathlands. Regionals will be held this Thursday at the Grand Traverse Resort on Wolverine. Josh makes a clean drive off the 16th Tee during the team scramble that was held back on 9-21-04 at The Heathlands. Tim used one of his Irons to make his drive on the 16th during the team scramble that day. |
