He died Dec.26, 2006 in Rancho Mirage, CA at the age of 93. He was
married to Elizabeth ‘’Betty’’ Warren. He had four children named
Michael, John, Steven, and Susan. Gerald Ford graduated from the
University of Michigan and Yale. Before he was president, Gerald Ford

President Franklin

In Hillsborough, New Hampshire on November 23, 1804
President Franklin Pierce was born. President Pierce was yet to be the
14th president of the United States of America. He was a lawyer and
public official. Pierce took part in the Mexican-American war becoming
a Brigadier General. On November 10, 1834 he married Jane Means
Appleton. Jane and Franklin had three children. Two died in childhood.
On January 6, 1853 two months before the inauguration Mr. and Mrs.
Pierce were in a train wreck and saw their 11-year-old son die by being
crushed to death. On March 4, 1853 he was officially president at 49
years old. He was a democrat. He promised that it would be a peaceful
time when he was president. He bought southern Arizona and part of
southern New Mexico from Mexico. The land cost 10 million U.S. dollars.
This land would be used for the railroad from Chicago to California.
The north and south were fighting over slavery. When the land was
bought, there was a small war over claiming the land. The north and
south wanted the land so whoever had more people could win the right to
end or keep slavery. Many people died in this war. After that no one
wanted for re-elect the president again. By March 3, 1857 he was out of
the office. At the age of 65 he died from a disease called Liver
Cirrhosis in Concord, New Hampshire on October 8, 1869.
