Red Foxes by Jake

Red foxes live in North America, Europe and Asia.  They live in forests, farmlands and sometimes in towns and cities.  Fox families live in dens, tunnels under the ground.  Foxes eat mice, rabbits, snacks, fruits and vegetables.  Red foxes have reddish-brown fur, white fur on their bellies and black fur on their legs.  The tip of their tail is always white.  Red foxes weigh 12-15 pounds.

Ladybug by Anika

My animal is the ladybug.  Ladybugs live outside on trees and leaves.  Ladybugs play dead when they are scared.  Ladybugs eat other bugs, and some eat plants.  Ladybugs taste bad to other predators.  Ladybugs have wings. Ladybugs are red with black spots.  They have a hard shell.

Giant Pandas by Jenna

The name of my animal is the giant panda.  The giant panda lives in China.  Giant pandas have black and white fur.  Giant pandas weigh up to 330 pounds.  They have the second longest tail in the bear family.  A giant panda’s paw has a thumb and five fingers.  Giant pandas are cute.

Snakes by Adam

My animal is the snake.  They live in swamps, forests, deserts, lakes and jungles.  Snakes are covered by a scaly, skin which is made out of a material like our fingernails.  The scales grip the ground when they crawl.  Snakes eat many kinds of animals including frogs, mice, other snakes, birds and rabbits.  Some large snakes eat monkeys or deer.  Different snakes are different sizes.  The largest snake ever recorded was a python.  It was 33 feet long.  The tiny thread snack is as long as a stretched out paper clip.  Most people dislike snakes because they are afraid.  I like snakes.

Lions by Kaden

My animal is the lion.  Lions are the second largest cat after the tiger.  Lions lives in the savannah or grasslands of Africa.  Lions eat hippos and zebras.  The fur on a lion is orange.  Boy lions have manes and girl lions don’t.  The girl lions get the food.  The boy lions protect.  Lions have four babies.

Polar Bear by Autumn

The name of my animal is a polar bear.  The polar bear lives at the north pole.  The polar bear eats seals and fish.  The polar bear has two layers of fur.  Their fur blends in with the snow, allowing it to attack its prey.  The polar bear is the world’s largest land predator.  Polar bears have fur on their paws to help them grip the ice.  Polar bears have small ears and a small tail to help them stay warm.  Boy polar bears can weigh more than 1,500 pounds.  Girl polar bears are smaller and weigh 330 to 550 pounds. 

The Boa Constrictor by Kirk

The name of my animal is a boa constrictor.  It lives in South America, Central America, and some Caribbean islands.  It can be as long as 3-13 feet.  Girl boas are bigger than boy boas.  They weigh up to 100 pounds.  Boas are brown and black.  Mom boas can have about 60 babies at one time.  They eat large bats, lizards, birds, and reptiles.  They hunt for food at night.  They love to eat bats the best.

Coyote by Ben

My animal’s name is the coyote.  The coyote lives all over North America.  They live in my backyard.  Coyotes howl when they are hungry and when they find food.  They eat mice, deer, and grasshoppers.  The coyotes have fur.  In the winter, their fur is long.  They can sniff a footprint and tell which animal made it.  Coyotes live in packs. 

Dolphins by Coriena

Dolphins are mammals.  Mammals are animals that do not come from eggs.  Orcas are the biggest dolphins.  Another name for an orca is the killer whale.  The dolphin moves it tail up and down to swim.  Dolphins have smooth skin.  Dolphins breathe air through their blowhole.  The dolphin’s muscles close the blowhole when they go under water.  To find fish, dolphins make a clicking sound that bounces off fish and make echoes.  Dolphins can talk to each other by barking, chirping, and whistling.  Dolphins are not found in Lake Michigan, Portage Lake or the Manistee River.  Dolphins live in the ocean.

Saber-Tooth Cat by Hayden

I like cats.  My favorite cat is the saber-tooth cat.  They have two long sharp teeth.   Their long sharp teeth grew to the size of 11 inches.  A fully grown saber-tooth cat can weigh from 120 pounds to 880 pounds.  They ate deer, horses and camels.  Saber-tooth cats were very strong.  They had fun and lived in warm and cool places.  The saber-tooth cat became extinct in 10,000 B.C.

My horse is brown.  She is nice.  The horse is running.  My horse is eating a bail of hay.  She likes to be brushed by me.  She likes butterflies.  She likes to get a bath with soap and water.  She loves apples and she loves to jump.  My horses are lots of colors.  They are pretty.

Hamster by Michael

My animal is a hamster.  He lives in a cage.  My animal is covered in fur.  He eats grass, clovers, grapes and special hamster food.  You have to clean his cage. They like to chew on wood and cardboard tubes.  Hamsters like to exercise on a wheel.

Gray Wolf by Sam

Once feared and hated, today the gray wolf is a loved symbol of the wilderness.  They eat any meat that’s available.  The pack can hunt and eat big animals.  Wolves are fast up to 40 mph.  They live in northern forests and tundra.  Their fur color varies from white to black with yellow eyes.  Their body is 3-5 feet long.  They weigh 60-130 pounds.

Scarlet Macaw by Sara

The name of my animal is a scarlet macaw.  Scarlet macaws live in the American tropics. They eat fruit and seeds.  Scarlet macaws have colorful feathers.  Scarlet macaws can live up to 75 years.  Scarlet macaws are very smart birds and they are pretty to look at.

Guinea Pig by Madison

The name of my animal is a guinea pig.  Guinea pigs live in cages.  Guinea pigs eat hay, oranges, apples, carrots, and celery.  Guinea pigs can have long or short hair.  Guinea pigs squeak when they are happy.  Guinea pigs like to be held.  I have a guinea pig named Sparkles.

Brown Bear by John

My animal is the brown bear.  They live in the forest.  Brown bears eat fish, grass and berries.  Brown bears have fur.  They hibernate in logs and caves in the winter.  I like brown bears.

Wolf by Hunter

The name of my animal is the wolf.  Wolves live in mountain and forest areas.  Wolves eat elk, coyotes and other small animals.  Wolves are covered in thick fur.

Skunks by Justice

I chose the skunk and it is native to Americas.  The skunk lives in dens and under piles of wood and rocks.  Skunks are omnivores they eat plants, wild fruits, apples and corn.  In the winter and spring they may eat mice and eggs.  A skunk has fur that is black and white.  There are four different skunks in the United States.  They are the spotted, stripped, hooded and hog-nosed skunks.  When a skunk is scared she or he will spray you.  This is the only way a skunk can protect itself.  Some people have skunks for pets.  Skunks have been here for a long time.  Skunks are not mean and are good for eating insects and other pest.  So please avoid them and don’t hurt them.
