Animal Research Project

Due: Monday, March 1st, 2010

1)      Please help your child choose an animal they would like to learn more about.

2)    Find books about the animal.  Look online to find information about the animal.

3)    Help your child write a brief report about the animal.  Please be sure your child answers the following questions about the animal.

  • ·        What is the name of your animal?

  • ·        Where does your animal live?

  • ·        What does your animal eat?

  • ·        What is the skin covering of your animal? (fur, scales, feathers, smooth)

  • ·        Please add any other facts your child thinks are interesting.

4)    Help your child make a model of their animal.

EXAMPLES:

  • ·        Paper mache

  • ·        3D (by stuffing and stapling)

  • ·        Clay

  • ·        Sew

  • ·        Painted wood

The information your child researches about their animal will be put into a book and they will get the opportunity to read their book at Young Author’s Night.

A rubric (shown below) will be used to grade your child’s project.
