Girls on the Run!

Girls on the Run is a program that uses the power of running to help preteen girls develop self respect and value a healthy lifestyle.  Girls on the Run program will attempt to empower young girls and provide a life-changing program that combines self esteem with running.

The program at Onekama runs for seven weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays and has 50% registered girls from the current 3rd, 4th and 5th grade class rooms.  We have a total of 29 girls participating.

Our Volunteer coaches include Mrs. Hagen, Mrs. Acton, and Mrs. Hopwood.

Girls on the Run will help girls with

  • Communication Skills

  • Positive Body Images

  • Improved Self-esteem

  • Decision-making skills

  • Positive Concepts of their Community

  • Fight Against childhood Obesity

The program will end with a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 16, 2009
