Girls on the Run!

Girls on the Run is a program that uses the power of running to help preteen girls develop self respect and value a healthy lifestyle.  Girls on the Run program will attempt to empower young girls and provide a life-changing program that combines self esteem with running.

This year I was in Girls on the Run. I was so happy when Girls on the Run started. It started April 19th. At the end of Girls on the Run we had a 3.1 mile race to train for the race we had to run from the park in Onekama to the well. The day of the race was windy and cold. I got second place it was so fun.

This year I was in Girls on the Run. I was so excited to start Girls on the Run, but now it is all done and I am very sad. Girls on the Run started April 19th. There are 27 girls in the program. I will miss Girls on the Run.   ~MW, grade 5

This year I was in Girls on the run. Our teachers were Mrs. Acton and Mrs. Hagen. This year I ran the 5k race and I finish too. We had Big sisters from the Track team. It was only a few times we got to see them. One of the times we ran around the track with them. Each big sister had at least two or four girls with them and Kiara Bromley and I had a girl named Brenna. I had so much fun this year in Girls on the run because some of my friends were on the team. I had the Best coach’s ever. ~BK, grade 5

This year I’m in Girls on the Run. It is so much fun. We play games, run, and learn to be nice and a good friend.  It was for fifth through third grades. At the end of the program we ran a race it was 3.1 miles and after we crossed the finish line we got a metal for running the race. We all had so mush fun. Thanks Mrs. Acton and Mrs. Hagen for helping us along. ~Courtney  L. grade 5

This year I was on Girls on the Run. It was really fun a lot of my friends and me were in the program. We ran a 5k run at the very end Cynthia and Rhianan got first out of all the people running. At first I was in first place but I ran out of breath and started to jog and then people started to get in front of me. At the end of the race my friends Cynthia, Brandi, Lacee, and I went to Burger King. We all had a lot of fun. Thanks everybody that set up Girls on the Run.     ~LV, grade 5

This year I am in Girls on the Run. I am very proud of myself. I ran the 5k race. I thought it was very fun. The race was a little hard but not much because in Onekama we ran all the way to the fountain. All the way to the fountain is a 5k, and we were racing ourselves. Also I thought that it was fun because we had big sisters. Our big sisters made us things and we made our big sisters things. I think Girls on the Run is so much fun. ~Lacee, grade 5

This year I did Girls on the Run. It was a seven week program. Our coaches were Mrs. Acton and Mrs. Hagen. We had big sisters on the track team, only a few times we ran with them. About three times we practiced running the 5k race. On Saturday we ran the 5k race. I came 1st out of the whole thing. I was proud of myself, I was really tired too. May 22 Girls on the Run ends. The 19th and the 21st we are scrap booking about the whole time in Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is so much fun. ~CP, grade 5
