Philanthropy Assignment

"Decision Making-Who Was Right?"

The students were divided into groups of eight and then from the group of eight, split into two groups of four. Each group was assigned one side of an issue. They were to prepare statements of support for their side of the topic and given about two to four minutes to present their position to each other. The pictures show each group. Following are the issues that were assigned:

 

 

  • Don't Believe in Slavery (Josh's group) vs. Do Believe in Slavery (Quinn's group)
  • You're a Union Soldier (Kelly & Amy) vs. You're a Confederate Soldier (Bryce's group)
  • It Was Okay for the Crosswhite Family to Break the Fugitive Slave Law (Derek's group) vs. It Was Not Okay for the Crosswhite Family to Break the Fugitive Slave Law (Jessa's group)
  • Women Should Not Be Allowed in the War (Sarah's group) vs. Women Should Be Allowed in the War (Jenafae's group)
