Lesson 2: Making Skits and forming opinions about the book Gentle Annie

April 27, 1861
Dear Sophie,
I hope you understand why I want to help out the Union Army. I really want to do this. I know you may be mad with me, but I have decided to go and the regiment has accepted me. I know I may be risking my life, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me and if I die, at least I will die knowing that I served my beliefs. It has always been one of my true desires tohelp out. I will miss you when I leave, and if I do not return, know that you were my best friend and I will always love you.
Truly your friend,
Annie (Emily C.B. & Brittany)
