Bloom's Taxonomy was reviewed and discussed. Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis, Evaluation were illustrated beautifully by Liz Coryell, CressSchwarz, and Sally Manke.

Onekama teachers received follow-up training to their three days of inservice in mid-August 1999. The Essential Elements of Effective Instruction were discussed under the direction of Patricia Lawrence.

...It was good to learn that as a staff we do share many of the same ideas about the learning process.

These teachers reflect on how to help students reach closure. Closure is an opportunity for the learners mind to reflect on that which has transpired for the purpose of insight and clarification. It enhances the rate/ degree of learning. Ann Kullenberg, Kathy Zajac, Kevin Hughes

The principals of learning are: Focus, Rate and Degree, Retention, and Transfer. Here the teachers are relating ways to help students retain that which needs to be taught. They consider relating to similar past experiences, correctly demonstrating the information to the students, and providing adequate practice.

Active participation helped our day go faster. As Pat would say, "We learned more, better, faster!"
