| Leading the team were senior co-captains Nichole Newland and Julia Graham. Some of the team received awards in honor of their play this season. Co-captains Nichole Newland and Julia Graham received All-State All Academic honors. In order to receive this award, the athlete must have a grade point average of 3.7 or above. The team as a whole also received Team All -Academic honors. In order for a team to qualify, the team's grade point average must be 3.3 or above. The team consisted of seniors Nichole Newland, Julia Graham, Sarah Johnson, Alison Rinehart, Melissa Hilliard, Keli Busk, juniors Emily Manke, Kathleen Kehrer, and Sophomore Christina Hilliard | Volleyball 1998 The Lady Portagers finished their season at a respectable record of 10-15-8. |
