Miss Deb French

I have been teaching for 25 years here at Onekama. I attended Central Michigan University and graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1975. I majored in Library Science and had a minor in English and Reading.

I am the yearbook advisor for the high school. Our book has won three Spartan awards in the past four years.

In addition, I am the High School Quiz Bowl coach. The third annual West Michigan D league competition was held at Onekama High School. Six teams participated, Baldwin, Brethren, FreeSoil, MCE, and Pentwater. Onekama won the contest by defeating Brethren in the finals.

I inherited the gene to teach from my father's family. Out of seven children, four of them were educators. My goal as an educator is to try and get students to enjoy reading and learning. I don't look for anything special in a student, they are all individuals with individual personalities. My pet peeve is students not being responsible for their actions.
