OBSERVING HOW DIFFERENT SIZES OF FOOD DISAPPEAR

In science we did an experiment. We took two sugar cubes, two cups with water, and two popsicle sticks. The question was which sugar cube would dissolve first., In order to find out we had to crush one and leave one whole. Then at the same time we dumped them in to the water and start stirring with the sticks. We timed to see which one would dissolve first. The answer is the crushed one dissolved faster than the whole one. We did this experiment because we are studying the digestive system in Science. Your digestive system works a little like this experiment. One of the most important things we learned is that is takes longer to digest things than chewed things...Katherine

We are studying the digestive system. We did an experiment with two cups, two sugar cubes and two popsicle sticks. We filled the cups with water and crushed one of the sugar cubes. Then we put the sugar in the cups and stirred while we timed to see which one dissolved first. I learned that when you crush food it is easier to digest because whole food is harder to swallow...Meghan

In Science class we took two sugar cubes and crushed one. We put them in water to see which one would dissolve the fastest. We had fun. I learned that the more you chew the faster the food will digest...Jared

We did an experiment with sugar. We had a sugar cube and crushed sugar. We put the sugar in separate cups. Because we were seeing which one would dissolve the fastest. The broken up sugar dissolved faster. When things are broken up they are easier to digest...Hunter

In Science class we did an experiment dealing with digestion. We are seeing what sugar dissolves fastest. We took a crushed sugar cube and a whole sugar cube and timed to see which dissolved fastest. The crushed cube dissolved the fastest. This is the same as digestion. Smaller pieces of food digest faster and easier...Nathan

In Science class we put crushed and cubed sugar in separate cups of water and stirred them. We did this to help us understand how the digestive system works with different sized foods. I learned that smaller things can be digested faster then bigger things...Ryan

We did this experiment because we are studying the digestive system. We took two sugar cubes and crushed them. We put them in water and timed them to see which one dissolves faster. I learned that crushed food digests faster...Jordan

Our sugar cube experiment was fun. We had to get two glasses of water half full, two sugar cubes, two stirrers and a zip lock bag. First, take a sugar cube and put it in the bag. Then, take the bag to a hard floor and step on it to grind up the sugar cube. Finally, drop the sugar into separate cups of water and stir them both. See which one disappears first and you will see which now will digest faster. We did it because we wanted to see if you chew food and swallow it, it will digest faster...Michael

In Science we took a sugar cube and some grounded up sugar and put them in a cup full of water. Then we stirred it to make them dissolve faster. We timed them so we knew how long it took. It's showing us kind of how digestion works. The grounded sugar is like chewed food not a chuck of food...Tayler

In Science class we did an experiment. We used sugar cubes and Popsicle sticks. We put a certain amount of water in the cups and smashed one cube and then dropped them in at the same time. Then we stirred them both and learned it is easier to digest stuff when it is in smaller pieces...Trevor

Our fourth grade class did an experiment with sugar cubes. First we filled two cups with water. Then we crushed a sugar cube and left the other whole. We put both in the water and stirred to see which one would dissolve first. We did it because that is how digestion works when our bodies get nutrients. we learned that it is easier to digest smaller foods...Todd

Last week in Science we did an experiment with two sugar cubes. We crushed one sugar cube and put the whole one and the crushed one in water at the same time. We timed how long it takes to dissolve. We did this for the digestive system...Travis

We did an experiment about the digestive system. We put crushed sugar and a cube in two different glasses of water. We timed how long both took to dissolve. We learned that it takes longer to digest foods that aren't chewed up...Kelli

On January 6 we did a Science experiment. We crushed a sugar cube and ahd a whole cube. We put them in water. The crushed sugar cube dissolved first. This is like our digestive system because we can break down smaller food faster than bigger food...Ronnie

We had to be careful not to spill the sugar water because it is very sticky. This experiment was a lot of fun...Lance & Nathan W.

Our class did a Science experiment. We crushed a sugar cube and left one whole. In our groups we put them in cups ( with water) and stirred, the crushed sugar dissolved first. It proves that you can digest smaller things quicker...Justin

We did an experiment in Science with sugar cubes. We crushed one sugar cube and left one whole. We poured water in two cups both at the same level. At the same time we put the crushed and whole sugar cube in each one of the cups. We did this to see which one dissolved first. The crushed one dissolved first. We did this because when your food is crushed or chewed it digests faster, and the unit we are in is talking about the digestive system...Stephanie

On January sixth we did an experiment in Science class. We used a crushed sugar cube a whole sugar cube and water. We found that the crushed sugar cube dissolved faster. Your digestive system works the same way; it breaks down smaller pieces of food faster...Tim
