Sixth Grade Writes Personal Narratives

The Snake

by Adriana

One day,I had to take the trash outside. I heard noises. I saw a snake it was brown. It also smelled horrible. I felt really scared during this time. I also started to cry because of the fear.

My family was having a party. It was my sister’s birthday. When I told my sister about the snake she didn’t believe me. The snake had gone away. It was really scary with its eyes glowing in the dark.

My Big Bike Crash

by Andrea

One day I was riding my bike and my bike has ten gears. The wires to my gears got caught in my pedals while I was riding my bike. I flew over my handle bars and went face first into the cement. [I felt cement, sand, and rocks.] I skinned up my nose, inside my mouth, half of my nail and my knees. [ I could taste the blood and sand in my mouth.] I was in so much pain.

I was with one of my friends. Her name is Rachel. She rode my bike to my house to get my Mom. My mom took the car over to where I fell at and drove me home.

When I got home my Mom patched me up and put an ice pack on my lip.

My First Basketball Shot

by Ashley Z

We were on our way to Frankfort for a basketball game. We always get to play before the sixth graders. Becky Bradford was our coach. It was the end of the third quarter. So Becky put me in for the last quarter. We were winning by five points. Sarah was dribbling the ball down the court then these two girls were guarding her so she had to pass the ball or the two girls might take it from her. I was the only one open besides Stacey so Sarah passed the ball to me. Nobody was guarding me so I put the ball up for a shot. I didn’t believe it. I MADE IT!!!!!!!!! I was so happy. Now we were winning by 7 points. As we were running down to the other side of the court me and Stacey slapped hands. Somebody stole the ball from the other team, dribbled the ball back down the court, and then they passed to me. I put the ball up for another shot, but this time I didn’t make it. So of course we won the game and we were undefeatable for the whole basketball season except for when we played Brethern which was against the sixth graders.

How I Got Shot

By Chris S

My neighbor and I were using bb guns for target practice. We were looking for a bb and my neighbor's gun had gone off. I took my shoe off and there was blood on my foot. My neighbor went and told my dad. Of course my dad was really mad. My dad wrapped my foot up and called my mom. My dad and mom took me to the hospital. A doctor took me to a x-ray room and got some pictures of my foot and then took me to the er. The first time the doctor tried to get the bb out wasn’t successful, so they sewed my foot up and gave me crutches so I could walk. After two more days my dad took me to the hospital and my mom suggested a magnet and the doctor said, "Hey, maybe it would work." So he got a surgical magnet and took the bb out. And now I have a sweet scar to show off.

The first time I went tubing

by Derek

The first time I went tubing was a disaster. One day we were having a party and we wanted to go tubing. So we did. After everyone went, I was next. My dad started the boat and we took off. But just as we left the dock, the tube sunk. So we tried to fix it, but it did not work at all.

After a few seconds the tube sunk and I came off the tube. By the time I was up, the boat was there. But when I tried to get on the boat, I could not get up on the engine. I finally got on it. When I got to shore I was so embarrassed I just went to bed.

My Broken Arm

by Dustin T

When I was four or three years old, I was getting ready to go out side. My older brothers, Brandon and Chris, were already outside. They called for me and I just got my shoes on. So I came out side.

When I stepped out side I could smell the fresh air. My two brothers had my three wheeler up on top of the slide. They told me to go climb up the ladder and get on my bike.

I was just little so I did what my brothers told me to do. When I got to the top I sat down on my bike which was still wet from that night. I saw my brothers go under the slide and then they told me to go down.

As I started to go down my brothers lifted the end of the slide up. I flew right off. As I hit the ground dirt went in my mouth. It tasted terrible.

I was in so much pain that my mom heard me crying and came out running. She saw me laying on the ground. After a while she got me to stop crying.

Later that night my arm was still hurting, but they did not take me to the hospital. That night I had to sleep on my arm. That made it hurt more in the morning. Finally I talked my parents into taking me to the hospital. Later that day we found out that it was broken.

I hated my brothers for what they had done. A couple of weeks later my brothers went swimming in a pool. I was so mad because I could not go in the water. After the day they went swimming I forgave them. But that thought will stay with me for ever.

Last year When I Got Chased by a Deer

by Jackson

Last year when Joey, Samantha, Jimmy, Sabrina and I were playing tag in Joey's dad's friend's corn field, I got chased by a deer. I was chasing Joey when out of no where this deer appeared. I naturally ran the other way. The deer was chasing me! So I ran into the house. The 8 point deer smashed the front door window and ran away, eventually to get shot by Joey's dad's friend. I’m lucky to be alive.

When I First Shot a Deer

by Jordan

I was walking to my tree stand and I saw a little buck running away. When I was in my tree stand I had a safety belt on, and I was excited and surprised that a spike horned buck was looking right at me. I tried to shoot at it, but it ran away. I was scared now. I heard something cracking in the brush. I looked and a lot of deer came out.

I was sitting down. I pulled the string back. I shot! I hit the deer with the arrow. I screamed with joy, "DAD, I GOT ONE!!!!" My Dad heard me where he was hunting which was a little ways away. I ran all the way down the hill. My Dad thought I was a deer running at him. He got ready to shoot. When he saw me, my Dad tied his string to the bow and let it down the tree. My Dad helped me find some blood from the deer.

We found some blood and it was fun. It was very late so I went home. About 30 minutes later my Dad called me on the phone and said that I got a deer. My dad came over to pick me up. We went to the place where I shot the deer. We drove down the hill. I saw the deer. It was a button buck. We picked the button buck up and drove up the hill. Dad gutted the deer on top of the hill. It was stinky. Then Dad skinned my deer and he said, "You are going to skin the next one." I said, “WHAT?” Then that night my Dad got a doe. We skinned that deer. That morning when we were in school my Dad got a 7 point buck. We skinned all the deer. Now it is time to grind the meat. When we were done I was thinking now it is my turn to get another deer.

The Crash

by Josh V

One cold fall day the wood was out. And the house was getting cold by the second as the fire slowly, but surely it went dead. The dog was even frozen.

My mom told me to go get some wood. So I did, but I was taking the go kart. So I started it up and off I went down the hill going 50 mph. I took a big right turn. WA-BOOM! The go kart tipped over. My leg was stuck under the go kart. I tried to reach for the kill switch because the motor was going.

But the only thing going through my head was the smell of gasoline. What I heard was a lot. I heard the motor running. But most of all, the pain was so bad in my leg I thought I as going to die.

But finally I hit the kill switch. And my sisters pulled the go kart up. And I was OK because of the rollcage.

Well, today I no longer go down that hill so fast.

Crack!

by Josh K

One afternoon my mom was getting ready to go to the store. Just before she left, I came in the house with my wrist hanging 3 inches from my arm and blood squirting everywhere. My bones were sticking out of my skin. My mom went to go get a towel to cover it up. We quick fast got in the Explorer and drove off to the Hospital. I thought my mom was going to get a ticket. We finally got to the Hospital.

They took me to my room in a wheelchair. When I got to my room they asked me to take off the towel. So I took it off and he said, ‘‘ I have never seen one so bad.’’ They wheeled me in to the X-ray room and took 7 X-rays. Then they took me back to my room. They asked if they could see my mom.So they took her out of the room. After a while my mom came in my room and I asked what they said. My mom said, ‘‘You have 8 broken bones and they have to do surgery in the lower part of your wrist.’’ After half an hour in my room, they told my mom, "It’s time." So they made my mom leave the room. After two and a half hours I woke up in my room with a total of ten stitches all over my wrist. They took two more X-rays to make sure the bones were in place, which they were. They told me that they were going to put a cast on. I asked them if they could make it blue, but they couldn’t. They said I could color it with a blue marker. The cast went all the way over my fingers and up to my shoulder. They said I had to wear a neck strap. Then my mom came in and asked, "Does Josh have to stay the night?" And the doctor said, ‘‘Yes.’’ They took me up to a room with a T.V. and a food tray. At 10 O’clock they told me to go to bed and shut off the T.V.

When I Got Stitches

by Kayla M

It started in second grade when Mrs. Bentley was playing tag with my class on the playground. She was trying to get me when all of a sudden I fell on some slush and hit my eye on the edge of a board. I really didn’t know what happened, but all I knew was that it hurt. Bad. I took my hand off my eye and I had blood all over my hand! I felt like I was going to faint. Then all of a sudden everyone was trying to help me down the slide to find Mrs. Bentley. Mrs. Bentley gave me a snowball to put on my eye. And when I took it off, it was cherry red! They took me to the office so I could lay down, then called my parents. When they came and got me, they said I would have to get stitches. That was a very scary thought.

When I got to the Doctor's office the nurse put all these ointments on my eye. They felt funny. I was really tired so I went to sleep ,but when I woke up all I saw was a thin paper towel with blood on it and a needle. It didn’t hurt a bit ,and they didn’t even put anything on it so it wouldn’t hurt. The doctor told me to wear a big band aid over my eye for a week and stay in the classroom. DO NOT GO OUTSIDE!!! because someone could get you hurt again.

When I got home I could hardly do anything, because I could slit it open again. It was soooo boring that week. Everyone at home was like a slave, they got me anything I wanted. Then on Monday of the next week I got to skip most of school ,because I went to go get my stitches out. While the doctor was taking out the last stitch the nurse gave me a bright green band aid.. I was sooo glad to get my stitches out. When I got home I could finally play outside with my sister.

Walking on Ice

by Mike

One day two winters ago, it was very cold out and it started to rain. It rained for two days straight the day after it stopped raining there was a thick layer of ice on top of the snow. I wanted to se how thick, so I walked out on the ice. When I walked on the ice it didn’t break. It was just like ice skating. So, you can imagine how much I wanted to go sledding.

By the time I got the sled out it had gotten very cold and I was freezing. the first time I went down I was scared. I thought that I would not stop, but when I hit the field, with tall grass, in my in my backyard I stopped very fast and hard. When I got the hang of it I wanted to stay out there forever.

The last time I went down I hit a clump of ice, and started doing 360s towards a pine tree. I hit it with the back of my head and went face first in to the ice. I hit so hard that I made an impression in the ice. (there was jagged ice everywhere) The ice cut my face open in three places.( one left a scar that lasted two and a half years) I was very mad because I had pine needles in my ski mask. I didn’t know I was bleeding at this time. I didn’t know what my dad was talking about until I felt something dripping down my cheek, it was blood. I ran up stairs to se my mom. that’s the story of how I Got a scar on my face.

When I got bit by a dog

by Nichole

I was playing at the park one day being baby-sat and needed to use the bathroom. Well, my baby-sitter lived across the road. So I went across the road. She told me to wait so she could put the dog in the pen inside the house. Then I started to wet my pants so she let me in.

Some how the dog got out of the pen and he bit me. I started to scream. I felt the dog's teeth digging in my arm. Then I saw some blood. So my baby-sitter took the dog to his pen and then got a towel and wrapped it around my arm.

Then my mom came to pick me up and she heard what happened. When my arm stopped bleeding my mom put some gauze on it. Then she took a sling and put that on too. I had the sling on for a week. So after that we went and got some ice cream, and when it got better I went out side and started playing again!

32 Inch Pike

by Jade

The biggest fish that I ever caught was a 32 inch pike. It all started when I went camping in the UP. I was having a great time until we went fishing late one night.

My dad, sister, and I were in our canoe. My dad was catching tons of Walleyes. It was just about time to go in so I threw my line out one more time.

I felt something hit my line like a snag. I tried to reel it in, but it was too heavy. All of a sudden my line started to go crazy. The fish was pulling our canoe! My dad was like, “Jade I think you have something.” I really hate catching big fish! I don’t know why, but I just do. I wanted to give my pole to dad, but if he stood up we would tip.

I calmed down a little and then started to reel it in. My sister kept yelling, “Can you see it?” While I reeled it in I thought about how good it would look on my bedroom wall.

When I finally got it up next to the boat my dad pulled it in. Meanwhile I was still shaking.

In the area where I caught this fish you have to throw all fish back except for Walleyes. I was really mad that we had to throw my 32 inch pike back. Before I let it go we took it back to camp to show my mom.

She had stayed behind because she was very tired. My mom and I wanted to keep the fish. I was so mad, but I finally got over it . I hope that next time I get a fish that big I can keep it.

Cancer

by Jessica

Have you ever been in a situation when someone really close to you gets extremely sick and will stay that way for the rest of their life? That happened to me when I was in second grade. My mom said she wasn’t feeling good. We thought she just had a cold. A week later her sickness got worse, so much worse we that we took her to the hospital. My dad was in the waiting room waiting for my mom’s surgery to get done. My brother and I were in school. Around 1:00 pm I got a note that said, “Grandpa will pick you up instead of mom.” At 3:00 pm my grandpa picked me up from school. He passed the road to our house. I asked him, “ Where are we going?” He replied, To the hospital.” “For what?” I asked. “ Your mom has cancer,” he replied. I was puzzled. What did cancer mean, anyway? We eventually got to the hospital. When we got in the hospital room, my mom was covered in tubes, getting a shot in her arm. My dad and I went in the car to go home. I asked him what cancer was. He told me it was a sickness that will get worse if we stress her out. At home I heard my dad tell my aunt that my mom has cancer and will probably die in three to four years. I"ve never been so scared in my life. It’s been four to five years and my mom’s still alive, but she has to take chemo treatments.

Burning My Leg on Three-Wheeler

by Ashley B

It was a nice summers day at Mrs. Olson's house, my next door neighbor. Everybody was riding the three-wheeler, it was really fun.I was about 7 years old when this happened.

It was about my third time going on. When I was all done I must have got off the wrong way. I looked back and my leg was all burnt!! I was screaming and crying really hard. We went inside and put some cream on for burns. When they put it on it hurt really bad. My flesh was all burnt up. It was really gross. Luckily, Mrs. Olson's son Andy is a police officer and he knew what to do. He said it was about a second degree burn, a pretty bad burn. We put a bandage on it and I went home.I had to change it every day.I still have the scar of it till this day.

Jumping My Bike

by Brandon

I was jumping my bike. And I crashed it in a tree and I had a few cuts. Then I went in to the house and got band-aids. And my cousin and I went and got his bike. Then it had a couple scratches on the side of it. Wewent and tried to jump it again. Then I crashed the third time. We were going to try it again but my mom said it was too late to be riding. The next day we were jumping it again. I did not crash it the next time.

GOING ON THE PLANES

by Kayla F

We are on our way to the Traverse City Airport. on our way we stopped at The Old Country Buffet. It was awesome. We could take what ever we want when ever we want. After we left there we drove for about ten miles until we were there. We got checked by a metel detector and it didn’t beep for my famiy at all. So we were running to or spot fuuu we just made it. we were on our way nonstop to Detroit. When we got there we got ready for our next flit to Florida. it took about 5 minutes before we got on and left when we heard ‘‘this flit has been deladed for a half an hour.’’ When I heard that I went right to sleep. After I woke up it was time to go. So we are on our way to Florida finaly. On the plane ride we got served pizza YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I just ate carrots. On the way there my sister ( Amber) farted really loud then my mom beeped really loud then I farted really loud. Everyone looked and laughed really really loud it was hilarious. After we got there we went to get our car and then searched for our condominium it was only suppose to take fifteen minutes but for some strang reason it took four hours after we were there we went to bed.

The Castle

by Eleanor

The castle was a huge building that looked like a castle. We drove past it every day on the way to the arts foundation where my mom worked. There were tours available and my mom said someday we would go on one. Almost every time we drove past I asked if we could go on the tour.

One day when we were in town my mom said we could go on a tour of The Castle! I was so excited. My mom bought a flowered note book with a cloth cover for me and some gumballs.

We stopped in front of the Castle. It had a black iron spiked fence with swirly designs. We walked up to the castle through the neat clipped bushes. With anticipation we were led into a hall with several doors lining it. The tour person lead us to one of them.

Inside was a huge room filled with olden days figures dressed in brightly colored old fashioned clothes. I think there was a lot of artificial food and they had a lot of things they used to use. On the wall was a large plaque saying something I can’t remember.

I only told you about the room I remember the best . The rest of the tour I don’t remember. It's a good thing I got to go on the tour then because a few months later we moved.

Stitches

by Erica J

When I got my stitches I was 10. I was at my friend Mike’s house to get changed to go swimming and I was standing next to my friend's door. His dog came over to me and my hand was dangling next to my body. His dog reached out and bit my hand. I screamed and then I looked and saw him biting my hand. It hurt so bad that I started crying. I didn’t think it was bleeding at first, but then my friend, Mike, told me he saw blood dripping out of my hand. I turned my hand over and saw blood gushing out. It was sick! I screamed even louder when I saw that. Then Mike’s mom took me into her kitchen and washed it out and then called my mom and told her to meet us at the doctor’s office. Mike’s mom didn’t take me to the doctor's office, my old baby-sitter did.

When we got to the doctor's office my mom was already there and had given them the information about me, so I was already to go get stitches. The doctor said he would have to numb it with a needle. I said that would be okay. So he put the needle right in the bite and it hurt like heck. I screamed pretty loud. Then he got the needle and medical thread and started sewing my hand up. I couldn’t see the inside of my hand anymore. I was happy. Then he put a Band-Aid over it and said,” All better.” That made me laugh.

I was kind of mad that their dog bit me because we were going camping in two weeks. He said I might not be able to tube because he was going to take the stitches out in a week. That would only give the scar a week to heal up naturally. I tubed anyway and nothing happened. Actually I tubed a lot. I was happy.

I still have the scar from the stitches on my left hand. It looks all white now. It’s really weird.

Ice fishing trip

by Scott

One very bitter cold day, when the ice on the lake was frozen and there was snow on the ground, my mom and I decided to do something fun on a day just like this; ice fishing, in my dad’s fairly new, stove installed ice shanty.

We found a few fishing poles and some good bait and an auger to take with us to make a hole. We decided to pull the very awesome shanty down to the frozen edition of Portage Lake with two snowmobiles (my dad would drive the other one if we could get him to). We didn’t go very fast, but we got down in about ten minutes.

When we got down there (finally) we went a lot faster on the ice because my dad and mom didn’t want to go too fast in town. After a while when everything was going fine, we hit a drift and all our supplies went flying into the snow : an auger, fishing poles and bait, ice scoopers, and chocolate milk to make hot chocolate with our radical stove in our shanty. It was very cold and freezing when we had to get on our hands and knees to pick up the supplies. When we were on our way again we found a perfect spot with the snow blown out of the way and a perfect spot for ice hockey.

When we dug the hole for fishing I baited my hook and stuck it in the hole hoping for a bass. Luckily I caught one automatically! I struggled not to be pulled in, but I caught it and we had it for supper. Of course I ate the most of it because I love fish and seafood. I told my dad and mom that today was a perfect day which was very fun.

An Accident

by Ruth

It was Saturday, and me and my family were heading to the church of Manistee. My mom was so worried because she thought that we were gonna be late for church. My Uncle was reading the Holy Bible and my cousin was fighting with my brothers.

There was one more block to go, there was a lady coming from the left side of the road. The lady was supposed to stop, but she didn’t so she just kept on going untill she crashed with us. The lady hit my mother, and my mom hit the tree. My mom couldn’t explain herself about the lady of not stopping when the stop sign was there.

On that day we didn’t get to go to the church. The only two person that got hurt were my brother and my sister. They only stayed in the hospital for an hour. I was so scared because I thuoght I was going to die. But I didn’t die, I just hurt my leg. I thought I was the only one that hurt my leg, but my uncle hurt his leg too. I was crying because I felt the pain on my leg so hard. I didn’t tell the doctor that my leg was hurting. Me and my family went home and everything was okay though my dad was a little bit scared.

ROLLERBLADING!!!

By Samantha M

When I woke up one day I decided to hit the jump on my porch with my rollerblades on. I asked my brother, Joey, if he wanted to rollerblade with me. He said, “Yes.” So we got our rollerblades on. I stepped outside and smelled the fresh air. I knew It was gonna be a good day for rollerblading.

Unfortunately, I was wrong. I hit the jump going as fast as I could. I came crashing down! I tried to grab on to my dad’s hunting suit to break my fall, but BAM!!! I fell down hitting the cement on my porch. My finger slid across the cement. It hurt so bad, but I didn’t cry.

Later that day I found out my finger was fractured. I was worried because we had a basketball game coming up. I couldn’t shoot or dribble! I was glad that when our basketball game came up my finger was healed. I’ll never do anything that stupid again!!!

Commercial Time

by Samantha G

“We’re there,” my mom and my grandma said when we got to the cabins in Traverse City. We got out of my grandma’s royal blue Ford and walked down to the filming site. We signed in and found out that only one other girl was trying ot get the part. Her name was Lauren. After we signed in, we tried to sit down. But there were no more chairs left, so we had to stand. After awhile we found some seats. The thing was, the chairs were taller than me! I had to get on a step to get on. While I was trying to sit down, my brother and my grandma went to the refreshment stand. My brother got me some Star Bursts.

“Get the ‘Sparkler Girls’ to the wardrobe truck,” the director said. So Lauren, Lauren’s mom, my mom, and I went to the wardrobe truck. We had a hard time finding it, though. When we got there, the wardrobe ladies asked Lauren and I what size of clothes we wore. Then they gave Lauren her costume. Soon after, Lisa, the sparkler mom, came. Then they gave me my costume, a skratchy pink dress instead of the dress I brought. Then they gave me a pair of white socks and a pair of black Mary Janes. After that, they gave Lisa her outfit. Then the ladies said we could leave. But not before giving Lauren a pair of glasses so she would look like my sister. Then we could leave.

When we got back to the beach area, we waited a while. After a while, the filmers started filming the diving scene. The workers took some kids out to a dock to dive off of. The bigger kids walked out. The younger kids were taken out on a green row boat because the dock was way far out in the water. The kids dived off about five times, each time two boys fought until finaly they both fell off. Then they came back. We waited for a long time. It was really cold out, so the director gave Lauren, Lisa, and I huge, heavy blankets. After they set up our scene, they put big, long sprklers in the bon fire pit. Then they started filming. First they had Lauren and Lisa go on the small beach. They gave Lisa a sparkler (cut from a big one) and had her walk up to Lauren and give it to her.

OOP’S

by Sarah

When I slipped in the creek it was so embarrassing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It all started when I was on a big rock at my cottage trying to catch some minnows.

That day I had Erica Jach over to play. I went to see what she was doing, she was still swimming so I went back. When I looked in the creek there was a huge fish!!!! I went to grab the net, and a second later the rock slipped and I fell in the creek.

All the sudden I heard a SPLASH!!!!!! All I could taste was the gross water. Then I looked at myself and I was totally wet. I got out and went to the cottage door and my Aunt Patty was standing right there.

When she asked me what happened I was so embarrassed I started to cry. I ran into the cabin and when I got in there Erica came in and I felt so stupid. She asked me what happened and I told her. After that I took my shoes and socks off. My mom came in and said, “It does not matter.” To me it did.

Then my aunt came in and also said, “It’s okay grandpa fell in the pond today while mowing the field.” I felt a lot better. So I went in and ate dinner, and almost forgot about it. Not really, but oh well!!!

My Allergy Shots

by Ricky

One day I woke up at 7:00 AM on Saturday for shots. When I came down I was hungry, but I couldn’t eat because I was on a 12 hour fasting.

An hour later I left for Manistee. In the car I played Game Boy while mom drove. About a half hour later we were there.

When we walked in we got in the elevator to the second floor where we walked into the waiting room. Twenty minutes later I was called in.

When I walked in I took a book I was reading. I saw tubes of liquid with labels, needles, a chair, and the doctor.

Next I sat in the chair where she rubbed alcohol on my arm. I was scared as she picked up the liquid dripping needle. I screamed as she shoved the needle in my arm. When she took it out there was a bump. I looked at the label it said cat.

“So that was what I was allergic to, cats,” I said. Then she said, “57 more shots to go.” One by one the shots went by as the time passed by screaming every time she stuck the needle in. It was scary as she grabbed the bottle, sucked up the liquid, and stuck the needle in my arm. More and more I screamed shot after shot of this horrible torture. The more needles, the louder the scream. Again and again I screamed louder and louder. Then finally she said, “Last one,” the words I’d wanted to hear for a long time.

I looked at the label it said “dog.” She put in the needle and injected the substance. When she took out the needle there was a bump. I was also allergic to dogs.

Later I ate breakfast. At breakfast mom said, “You survived 58 shots so well I’m sure you can have 1 blood shot next week.” “AAAHHHHHHH!” I screamed. Those were my allergy shots.

The Most Painful Moment Of My Life

by Soren

One day I was helping remodel the house. We had a bunch of torn up walls in the yard and I was hitting them with a hammer. Little did I know I was about to encounter the most painful moment of my life. I kept on whacking the walls with the hammer when suddenly...OUCH! The next thing I knew I had a hammer sticking out of the back of my head. I went into the bathroom , blood was spraying everywhere. Then I leaned my head into the sink, the blood wasn’t spraying anymore it was just dripping. We had to shave my head and put a butterfly bandage on it. After suffering excruciating pain for about six days the hurt went away. Then in about two months there was a scar in the spot where the end of the hammer dug into my skull.

I WENT TO THE ZOO WHEN I WAS SICK

A Visit

by Ashley J

One day last winter I had Nichole over to my house to go sledding. What happened wasn't sledding. I told Nichole wouldn't it be fun to go on the pond. Of course it was frozen, at least I thought. There was a little stick going across the pond, and we began to walk across it. I fogot that the stick only went half way across the pond. When we got to the end of the stick, I said hurry back now. Now. Then when we were running back the ice gave way. Nichole and I fell in the pond, it was so cold. Then we swam ashore. When we got up we were frozen cold. We ran as fast as we could up our third driveway. When we reached our main driveway, I stoped, and said, "MY MOM!" Obviously she could not find out, so I peeked in the window. Mom was watching T.v. So me and Nickole went to the main door and we tip toed in. No sooner did we step one foot on the floor, and my mom said, "Is that you girls?" We had to say nothing. When you say nothing moms seem to get curious. so we jogged across the fourway. When we were in the laundry room, and the door was shut I said, "We made it." Nickole and I were just getting our coats off when there was a knock on the door. It slowly opened, then me and Nickole took cover in a basket of clean clothes. When the door was all the way open I peeked through a t shirt and saw mom. I got up. The first thing out of my mom's mouth was, "Holy cow, you're all wet and you just got the clean clothes all wet." So my mom made us stay in the rest of the day. But we had fun any way, doing girl stuff.

Falling on the toilet

by Stacey

One Christmas Eve when I was about seven yeards old I did something real dumb. We were getting ready to open gifts at my Grandma and Grandpa Brown's. My mom told me to quick run in and blow my nose. So I went running in and slipped on the bathroom rug and fell and hit my front teeth on the toilet seat. My top two teeth were knocked lose. Boy did I cry! It hurt really bad and everyone was worried. My brother went to check the seat and he said Stacey left her teeth marks in it. Later in the evening after all the gifts were opened they all started teasing me about biting Grandma's toilet seat. I didn't like it then but now I think it was funny. My Grandma still has the seat and we still laugh every Christmas Eve.

About my dog Teddy

by Dusty

When I got Teddy I was 6, so I have had him for half my life. Once I remember when my dog started to sing when I honked the car horn. Everybody was freaked out. The same day I gave him a frisbee and after I gave him the frisbee I went inside the house. Whe I came back out it was in pieces on the ground. So that took him about 2 minutes.

My trip to Gettysburg

by Chris N

When I went to Virginia I was ten years old going on eleven. The main reason I went to Virginia was for my Aunt and Uncle's wedding. But we stopped a few places before we went there, one was Williamsburg and the other was Gettysburg. That's the one I'm going to tell you about.

It took us about two days to get to the town that Gettysburg was in. When we got there we got a hotel room. Then we went shopping. After that we went back to the room, watched some TV, and went to bed.

The next morning we went to Gettysburg to see the monuments. First we had to go get a map to see the route we had to take to see everything. The first thing that I liked was a one hundred feet high observation tower. My second favorite was Devil's Cave which was next. Then there was Little Round Top and Big Round Top. We had to walk a long way to get to the top.

When we got to the end we got some donuts and went to the hotel. I really liked my visit to Gettysburg, it was a lot better than Williamsburg.

The next day we were on our way to Virginia to see my Aunt and Uncle's wedding and see my cousins Michael who is ten, which is my age, and Misty who is sixteen.

When my dog died

by Erica S

One day bear ran of. Iwas scared that if he got hit witch he did we would not find him. He was gone for two days and we did not find him. One of are neibors told us that he saw him get hit by a car. We found him a few hours later. Me and my mom were watching TV, my brother ran in and said that they found bear. We rushed out of the house and got in to the van. We got to the place where they found Bear. We got him into the van. He was in no pain at that time. We got him home and made a bed for him down stairs. He moaned and groaned. But we did not know what to do for him. So we called the vet. The vet told us what with bear. so we tried it but it did not work. So mom took him to the vet. He gave him a shot witch did not help for long. Then the vet came to are house and gave him another shot. We put him out side and we though he would not fall down the hill. But he did. He could get back up the hill because he can not us his hine legs. So brang him out in the grage. He just look at us like he wanted to die. I was so scared. He was just suffering. We all thought so. It was a bad disition so we waited another week. But he still not getting better. I did not want to believe it but it was true. I thought if he died what would I do. The day came we deiced we had to put him to sleep. We were all crying. The doctor came to are house. He gave him a shot to clam him down. I was crying so bad. But I thought He would not feel any of the pain. When he put the real shot in bears eyes rolled back in hi head. I busted out in tears and ran in the house I could not watch. I went back out Bear was barley breathing. When bear was dead the doctor covered him with the tarp. We buried him latter. I put tons of flowers on his grave. I was so sad. But I had two little kitten to help me get throw the hard time. Some day I hope I get another dog. Because I really like dogs.
