Plants take in water through the root hairs. Water goes up tubes. The extra water goes out the stomata. This is called Transpiration.

Julie enjoys taking part in our Science Work. Here she is singing "Baa Baa Black Sheep" with Kayla. That's a song about a vertebrate - right?

Celery is a very interesting plant, but it does not compare to receiving "Happy Birthday Flowers"

Happy Birthday, Mandie!

The Rock Cycle

In December we studied the Rock Cycle and examined various rocks. We discussed weathering and erosion and how to protect our land.

Plant Processes

In September and early October we studied plant processes. Each student made a simple 5 card HyperStudio stack explaining one of these processes. Some presented the idea of Photosynthesis to the class. Other students chose to tell how flowering plants or conifers make seeds.

Vertebrates & Invertebrates

In mid-October we began to study Vertebrates and Invertebrates. We outlined the information with the help of PowerPoint. We began to play QuizBowl using science facts.

Habitat & Niche

We enjoy our Tracks magazines. They always do such a good job discussing various Michigan Habitat, and Michigan animals. We began thinking of our local ecosystems.

What it is Like Where I Live

Several students have borrowed the digital cameras and are in the process of making a HyperStudio stack about the land around their home. Other students are taking photographs of our school for their stack.
