Camera Directions for Students

  1. Before you borrow the camera, decide what it is you want to photograph. Will you be able to get to that spot after school, or will you need the camera for the week-end? Think about what you will write about the photograph you wish to take.
  2. Practice using the camera at school. Work to hold the camera steady and try not cover the flash and electric eye with your fingers. Have a friend evaluate the results with you. We will practice for several weeks before anyone borrows the camera.
  3. Learn to delete all pictures you do not want to keep. Pictures take up a lot of space on the computer. Let's just keep the best ones. Use the plugged in adapter when you are viewing and deleting images. This saves on battery power.
  4. When the time comes to borrow the camera, you will need a signed note from your parent. The note should say that they and you will do your best to take proper care of the camera. Because there are only two cameras at this time we will have to share.
  5. I will have student directions for using each of the two cameras. At the moment only directions for adults are available. If you wish to see them, they are at : Camera Directions.
  6. These digital photographs go from the camera to the computer. They can become part of an article you are writing for the internet or you might use them in a letter e-mail. They can be part of a presentation you make to the class.
