 I like being a Safety Patron person because you feel like you are making a difference. Little kids look up to you because you help them a lot. I like Safety Patrol because it makes you feel like a hero, especially when you stop someone from getting hit by a bus. Being on Safety Patrol helps me to have a good reputation. Every Friday we switch positions. The captain writes the positions down weekly or the lieutenant if the captain is sick. Ms. Chris chooses a captain and lieutenant monthly. The Safety Patrol Program has been reinstated at Onekama School, and it's a success. The Safety Patrollers are both responsible and independent. In the morning they watch buses and crosswalks. They start morning patrol at 7:45 AM. The afternoon group starts at 2:50 PM. They do not complain about having to get out of school 10 minutes early! They say it is just their duty. We think the Safety Patrol is a good addition to our school.
