In art we are making bowls out of clay. At a special soup dinner we are going to sell our bowls to raise money and give to the food pantry. If you really think about it there are lots and lots of people that are homeless, have no food, and need help. In art we made pinch pot for the empty bowl soup project. This is held in the cafeteria. People will come and pay $5.00 for soup and bread but when they leave they will be able to take a pinch pot home. All the money will go to the poor and homeless. Last week on Friday we made clay pots in art. It was the first time for me so it was kind of hard. When we had it in a bowl shape we had to put our initials in the bottom. I put quarter moon shapes around my initials and used a scraper to put lines in the side. This Friday we are going to glaze the bowls, then they will be finished. I had so much fun making my clay pot. The clay was really moist and it left dirt spots on my hands. We first started by splitting our clay, and then we rolled it in a ball, and stuck our thumb in it. Next we pinched and stretched it into a bowl. After that we got to decorate them. This week we will glaze them or paint them. I'm glad I can do something to benefit the community..... Kayla B.
The Empty Bowl is made of clay and you make the clay into a ball and then you need to get your finger in the clay so you could make the Empty Bowl. Then you put it in the plate that has paper and then you make your stuff that you need to make. We make these plates for the people and so we could sell them for five dollars. We think we will get like five hundred dollars and the money will go to the food pantry so they could buy food for the people that don't have too much food. There are many grades that make Empty Bowls not just Fifth Grade. I don't know more stuff about the Empty Bowl. ...Jose Last week in art we made clay pots for the homeless people. Lot's of schools get in on this and help out. At our school Kindergarten through twelfth grade makes the bowls. Our school makes soup and bread and it's sold for five dollars. After people have the soup and bread, they get to pick out a bowl that we made and they get to bring it home. Lot's of people do this for the Food Pantry. We give all the money that we earn to the poor people so they can buy food, have a good home, and so they can pay their taxes. We made the pots by starting out with a ball of clay. Then we took our thumb and pushed it inside the ball of clay. After that, we started pushing our thumb around the bowl to make it wider. Then we put the clay into a plastic bowl so we could get it to be the right size. After we got it the right size, we started making decorations on them. This week we get to paint it.
